Orange Peel

My mom had surgery a few weeks ago so I have had some added time for a little hand stitching.  I contemplated doing some Grandmother Flower Garden flowers, but decided instead on some Orange Peel blocks.  I enjoyed working on the ones in my Trifle Dish quilt.  There is a fun QAL going on through the summer for the Orange Peel blocks.  This is what I have so far.

We managed to slip away for a few days for our annual family fishing trip.  I was not great with picture taking this time, but here are a few shots of the kids and grandchildren with whom we made memories.

Daughter and family.
These pictures were taken the night before we left and son #3 and his family had to leave early to get home in time for a summer camp date and a horse show on Sunday.

There is nothing quite as relaxing as having a pole in the water, waiting for a nibble and enjoying a view like this. It recharges the body batteries!

  9. Wishing your mom the best. Busy hands help keep our minds occupied during stressful times. Aren't we lucky to have such a craft! Gorgeous bit of Mother Nature but not as gorgeous as your family.

  12. Love those orange peels! How nice that you were able to get away with your family ... I would imagine that's not an easy feat, getting everyone together like that ... but that is part of what makes it worth it, I'm sure.

  20. What a gorgeous backdrop for family photos, but of course I know this is just jealousy on my part for that space and time where you get to relax while "waiting for a nibble."

Hope your Mom is doing fine, but glad you had some handwork to help while away those long hospital hours/convalescence hours. I've been doing handwork a lot this summer, too, and am really enjoying it. Beautiful set of blocks you have!

I love those log cabin color blocks you are doing. They remind me of a quilt I saw on the cover of a magazine recently. It's probably the same one:)
