Controlled Wonky
It was so interesting to read the different comments on the border for this quilt. I appreciated all of them. To me, it felt unfinished, but I knew I could not add another full sized border. I liked the "wonky" of it being offset. In the end, I made it into a more controlled wonky finish. Be sure to visit Moda Bake Shop to see all of the different quilts for this sewalong.
It’s a big quilt, finishing at 80” x 107”. With all of the unsewing I did on this one, I am ready to be finished with it. Thanks to Moda Bake Shop for the fun Trifle Dish SewAlong this summer.
I have a few of my orchids blooming in the house. They always look so elegant.
We’ll have houseguests for the next five days so computer time will be limited. Have a safe and wonderful July 4th.

ReplyDeleteI had to come back and look at this again (because I couldn't write a comment on my Kindle this a.m.). I love the colors and the uneven borders and ow the black and white borders work with the colorful row-along.
ReplyDeleteYour orchid pictures are beautiful! I admire your choice for the borders on your quilt. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night, so I have to admire someone who can make that choice.

Mary,
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that quilt top is DONE! How beautiful!!!! I love the colors.
And your orchids are beautiful. Have you see the 'blue' orchids that the stores are having for July 4th? We saw some the other day - they were neat looking, but I had to do a double take because they look a bit unreal at the same time.
That smaller border is the perfect finish! Keeps the center offset but gives it a finished look. Genius! Happy 4th!
ReplyDeleteGreat birder treatment Mary , it looks wonderful . Happy July 4th , hope you have a nice celebration :-)
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is perfect! I love how you did the borders. Your orchids are amazing, the only way I can grow them is to buy them at Lowe's all in bloom and keep them until the blooms drop off and then they never bloom again! ha!
