Goodbye 2017

It's hard to believe that we are saying farewell to 2017 already.  It sounds like many in the states are sending it off in a deep freeze.  The snowy pictures have looked beautiful, but I am not envious of the temperatures.  They would, however, add a new dimension to my Temperature Quilt project.

I love this quiet time after all of the holiday entertaining.  The house is all decorated and there is no preparation that I should be doing.  I can look around and enjoy this Christmas season completely guiltless.

This week has been a lot of clean up from Christmas and houseguests, but I have been determined to try to stay on track with my Bonnie Hunter QAL.  It has taken me the full week to get the clue done this week, but here they are - with 11 to spare!

I think we should soon be assembling all of these parts and I am looking forward to seeing them all come together.

We had another wild and wonderful Christmas with everyone here.  There was not a lot of time for pictures as it is rather chaotic, but I will share one picture that I took mid-room as we were gathering to open gifts.  I know crowds like this are not for everyone, but it is a joyful part of our life.

I wish for an exciting, fun and blessed 2018 for everyone.  I'm looking forward to following along with all of you in the upcoming year.  You are each so inspiring and never cease to amaze me with your creativity.  Thank you so much.

  1. The family gathered in the living room brings to mind "no room at the inn." Wishing you a creative New Year. I don't like the winter either and here I am sitting in the midst of it. EEK!

  3. Yep we are cold, it is snowing again. Love the picture of your family. My mother's house looks like that too when we are all there. I would hope to have one year where we could all get together at Christmas one more time.

  5. Grey skies, wet and very windy here - but then we are in Normandie! I've decided to sit and watch the mystery quilt this year - but I have finished the top for "En Provence" - at last!! What an amazing picture of your family. It was just me and my husband for Christmas this year (it was the in-laws turn and the youngest was working!) but we are all getting together in February for "Febmas" so I'm looking forward to that. 7. If there is a time during the winter I like, it's this week between Christmas and the new year. I'm with you, this is a time to enjoy the quiet! Happy New Year, Mary.

  8. And we thought we had a house full with 10 plus two dogs! Of course you could fit half of our entire house in your living room! What a joy to celebrate Christmas with the kids and grands. We're also enjoying the few quiet days between now and New Years day when we gather at another daughter's home for a belated Christmas with the Texas relatives. Happy New Year to you and yours!

  12. What a wonderful group! You must have had so much fun. I can only take crowds like that for a short amount of time and then I must escape. What's the breakdown of children, spouses, grandchildren . . . .

  14. Loved this post, Mary, and that picture typifies your embrace of life and family and fun and celebrations. Now if I could only find Toby, that would also include your love of the animal kingdom, too.

I'm with you on the snow--love to visit, but happy I don't live it in (currently--who knows what the future brings?). Thanks for your blog and for the lovely posts you write. You are an inspiration to us all.

    Happy New Year!
