Christmas is Coming

....the goose is getting fat.  Poor goose!

The blogs are so exciting with all of the Christmas decorating showing up.  I really enjoy seeing all of the creative ideas out there.  Does everyone else too?

I started to put a few things out yesterday.  I hung my Christmas Cactus quilt and I love it.  I think I have shown the completed top last winter, but here it is bound and hanging.   It will be such a nice addition to our future Christmas decorating.

To see more great Christmas quilts check out SewCalGal.

We celebrated our Thanksgiving on Saturday which is our tradition.   I had lots of help from the family - especially my dear hubby who cooked the turkeys, made the gravy, stuffing and potatoes.  It was delicious and I told him I might relinquish the job to him in the future!!!!

Lots of directing going on.
Some of the grandchildren came over and set tables and did prepping of veggies.  Thank goodness for a wonderful gang of help!

Grandpa overseeing the process.

Part of the gang for Thanksgiving.  The rest came later after a soccer playoff game and church.

Our son's new family member.

Not much quilting going on here unless a quilted jigsaw puzzle counts.  Can you tell I am bored?

It will be nice to get this cast off so I can use scissors, knives and rotary cutters again, but I am able to use the fingers more now that the swelling and pain has subsided.  Yeah!  The bad hair days remain!!!!

This was what we enjoyed this morning.  You know it's going to be a great day when it starts like this.

Keep up with all the great Christmas decorating as I am loving it!

  5. I've still got to dig out my Christmas stuff and now worry that I can't decorate how I really want because of it being on the market. You know, clearing out clutter to make it look bigger and all? Your quilt is wonderful there. I always tell you too just how blessed you are to have such a nice big family.

Oh, it must be so frustrating not to be able to sew right now - hopefully you will be released from the cast very soon. How many people are there in your family now? And how on earth do you all manage to sit down to a meal together? But what a joy for you and your husband! And how wonderful to have so many little (and big) helpers. Perfect!

  29. I always enjoy seeing your family pictures when you all get together:-) Sounds and looks like a wonderful Thanksgiving was had by all. The little ones are just adorable! I wish I had all that help in my kitchen:-)

Your Christmas cactus quilt is so beautiful and I love where you hung it, a perfect background to your Christmas display.

I can well imagine how anxious you are to have your cast removed. Makes you realize how for granted we take having the use of both our arms and hands!!

We still have no snow here, not even any flurries which is very unusual for this time of year. I'm hoping it stays nice until after this coming weekend, I'm planning on going to Niagara Falls with Steve for our Christmas fun weekend but it will depend on the weather. If you remember, two years ago I got caught in a snowstorm that had me and others stranded on the side of the highway for 9 hours. Eek! Don't want to repeat that again!! lol

Take good care of yourself dear friend. xoxo

I was wondering...I the new puppy a Weimaraner? We had one when I was a young girl and she was a wonderful pet. Also had to tell you how gorgeous the two stitchery projects at the end of your pictures were along with the beautiful sunrise. Takes your breath away to see such glory in the morning doesn't it? We took similar pictures early in the morning day before yesterday. Thanks so much for sharing with us. Hugs...

  50. Wow - 58 comments! You've become very popular, you rascal!

I haven't been around much to see decorations, and I can't get anything to work on mine.

I'm glad you had such good help for your feast. Kudos to your hubby. I know you'll be so glad to get that cast off! Looks like it was a gorgeous day.

We had a good time with 16 from every possible branch of the family - very interesting. No Kev and Angie, though. They had a great time with the TC bunch at the house.

We got a good Christmas-y storm overnight and all day and it's 21 now at 8 pm - cold, but seasonal.

I love the Christmas cactus quilt - you're right, it's just the right touch.

Here it is Thursday night already - WHERE does the time go every week? I just can't seem to get my thoughts together for a post very often - but I finally have one up again.
