May???
Seriously??? It is May already? We’re already a week into May. I don’t know where the time is going. Guess that makes me really OLD.
Life has been super busy here. The school year is winding down and proms, school plays, graduations and birthdays seem to fill the time.
The garden is also calling me outside more and more. Of course I love the time spent watching the birds at this time of the year. The hummers are amazing as they flit here and there – always in such a hurry. You seldom see them taking a rest.
The orioles and quail are also back at the feeders. We are awaiting the arrival of this year’s babies.
Sewing has taken a back seat – other than a lot of logo embroidery, hemming dresses and mending, but I did make a beach bag. I had some of the “Fruit Ladies” fabric and thought it would look cute on a quilted bag.
We attended the grandchildren’s school play this week – HMS Pinafore. Our grandson was “the orchestra”, playing every song on the piano. He has worked so hard and did a fabulous job.
Several weeks ago a lovely package arrived in my mailbox. I had won a wonderful sewing companion and scissors from Cathy at Crafty Cat Blog. This is so beautifully made and will be perfect for my stitching.
Isn’t the little tassel beautiful?
I'm going to be meeting up with a sewing friend next week so I will hopefully have something more to show on my next post.
Enjoy spring and if you get May showers would you please send us some?????
Happy Mother's Day to all who will celebrate it this weekend.

The Hummers haven't arrived here yet. My SIL put her feeders out a couple of days ago as some neighbors said they had a couple - but we haven't seen them yet. Our quilt guild made those little keeps for a Saturday sit-n-sew project and I still use mine.
ReplyDeleteWow, you have hummers. I never get that many on any feeder at a time, but have quite a few. Mine need lessons on sharing. And I never can sneak a photo of the orioles. Your photos are great.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a very Happy Mother's Day.

The photos of your wildlife are gorgeous Mary!! Well done to your GS, you must have really enjoyed the performance. I have a little of that beachgirls fabric left over - didn't think of using it like that - cute bag :-)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe all the hummingbirds at the feeder. We get a couple during the summer month and so enjoy watching them fly around. I will send a few shower your way. It has rained for four days, and now we are expecting snow on Mother's Day. I will be happy to see the sunshine. How very cool that your GS performed all the songs. He looks quite dashing in his tux.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous bird photos! We have lots of dove, but so far no little hummingbirds. Cute, cute scissor case!
ReplyDeleteIs that you with your grandson? Fabulous picture!
ReplyDeleteOur neighbors have a hummingbird feeder and saw some hummers earlier this week. When we get back from Hilton Head, we're going to put a feeder up as well. I hope we get as many as you do. ;-)
Congrats to your Grandson! How ambitious. I love your bird pictures. We never see Orioles around here.
ReplyDeleteLove your post Mary. What a handsome and talented grandson! I'm sure you are proud. I've off to Idaho on Friday for my granddaughter's commencement in nursing school. She is taking a job as a psychiatric nurse in Salt Lake City. I made a quilt out of those bathing beauties. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHi! It's been quite a while but I thought I'd drop by. 28 grandchildren?! I have only 8. I started back to blogging and thought I'd drop by and say hi. It's wonderful to see you are doing so well. Your sewing and birdies are both lovely. :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos of the birds. And congrat's to your GS~ that is quite an accomplishment! Haven't seen any hummers here yet, but some nice days are ahead. Have a happy Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteYour hummingbird pictures are amazing! We've had a few here in Florida so far. What a wonderful time you must have had hearing your grandson play the piano!
ReplyDeleteMary I think you and I are the same age and so I say that you are definitely NOT old! Now with that being said.....I am loving your beach bag with those darling fruit ladies! Your scissors and holder gift is lovely and the birdies look happy.......I haven't put my hummer feeder out yet and need to make another batch of seed cakes.....
ReplyDeletemy hummers are here to but we have a male that runs the others off
ReplyDeleteYour hummers are certainly better at sharing then ours!! We have two feeders out and they don't even like it when another bird is on the feeder they aren't using!!! I love to sit quietly on the porch and watch them! Very talented grandson there - you all look so very happy and proud in that picture!
ReplyDeleteAren't hummingbirds gorgeous! My garden has been beckoning too

ReplyDeleteThe same ole question "Where does all of the time go???
ReplyDeleteYep, half way through May already! I only managed one post this month. I just got over a bad cold I had for the whole week. Your grandson is a real handsome young man. He has you and your husband smile! Love Nat
ReplyDeleteOh the birds in your backyard make me swoon! We usually get just one pair of runy throated hummingbirds each summer although I always put up four or five feeders hoping this will be the year for more.
ReplyDeleteYour grandson must be an accomplished piano player! I'm sure playing the entire score is no small feat. Bravo!
PS I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day too!
ReplyDeleteYes and now it's almost June!!! Nice catching up with what you're up to, albeit a little belated. Love seeing the photo of the quail. My favorite birdie!
