Our Mays are always a crazy month with seven birthdays, two anniversaries and Mother’s Day – lots of mothers - in our family. This month we have also added two First Communions and one Confirmation …always cherished times. The calendar month seems to roll around faster and faster each year and I find it hard to grab a few minutes of quiet sewing time in between all of the celebrations. I think I need to give up housekeeping!!!!!
.
This is as far as I got on my Disappearing 4 Patch (D4P). It finished up at 40” square which I think is a great size for a baby quilt.
I needed a quick gift for a friend so I did another frog on a lily pad mug rug. We have a running joke about frogs so I thought she would get a kick out of it and she did.
Although I am holding out no hopes of accomplishing my goals I set this month, I would like to finish the next four blocks of my New York Beauty project. Have you set your goals yet?
Lots of time has been spent in the garden as well. My first plumeria is just starting to bloom. They do not normally bloom until July.
My favorite orange orchid is also blooming. I LOVE the color of this one. Wouldn't this make an incredible corsage? My dad had a greenhouse filled with orchids when we were teenagers. I used to make and sell orchid corsages for the boys to give to their dates when they went to the prom. I'll have to dig out a picture of the bouquet that my dad made for my wedding. It was stunning.
I know that several people lately have been having a problem with comments going to their e-mails. I have noticed that my some of my comments are being returned to my spam mail as "unable to deliver". My settings remain the same so I am not sure what is going on with blogger. Most of the mail seems to involve yahoo accounts. Has anyone figured out a way to solve the problem? The comments still show up on the posts, but they don't not show up in the inbox.
I love the Merry Month of May! Terrific quilt and a very fun froggie gift. How very special to have a wedding bouquet made by your day. My husband provided his roses for a flower arrangement at my bridal shower. :o)
ReplyDeleteFantastic baby quilt, Mary... and the frog is so fun:)
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day!!!

Love the D4P and the addition of the POP of green! The frog is adorable as well. Your flowers are beautiful! Is Spring finally here??
ReplyDeleteLovely flowers - orchids don't do well in our area - actually, our trees have yet to leaf. It is not you or blogger, but Yahoo. They made a change with security (DMarc) to prevent a problem with the Heartbleed Virus. It totally messed up e-mail accounts. Complaints have been filed (I haven't gotten any answers back)and have not learned of any fix. If I have a comment bounce to my spam as 'undeliverable' - I copy and paste my comment into a compose letter and then re-send it.
ReplyDeleteMy Grandfather grew orchids as a hobby when he retired to the San Diego area. He had two green houses and a lathe house. He created a hybrid Phaleanopsis (sp?) and registered it with the American Orchid Society and named it after me, his first born grandchild. Only orchids I have are two cymbidiums that came with the house we live in. They bloom when they feel like it. I don't have my grandfather's magic touch.
ReplyDeleteSharon explained the issue very well. I have a yahoo account and I fail to get some comments. I hope it is solved soon! Your month sounds SUPER busy! Surprised you are able to sew at all!
ReplyDeleteIt is a crazy month for you...love your DNP

ReplyDeleteGorgeous flowers. Enjoy reading your blog.
ReplyDeleteYes I definitely think the "give up housekeeping" is a good idea.....I might try that myself! Your flowers are lovely and so are your projects.....I am always amazed at how you accomplish so much....
ReplyDeleteI love your photos of blooms. I didn't know that orchids were ever orange.
ReplyDeleteI have only 2 people whose comments don't come to my email (all the rest do) and I don't have a yahoo account. Those comments don't end up in spam, I just have to go to my blog to read them.
Wow, you do have lots going on. Giving up housekeeping is what I've done lately because of critters......sigh!!
ReplyDeleteTake care and have fun!!
The baby blue quilt is coming along nicely. I love blue and green together. Beautiful Mary. Your orange orchid just gorgeous. You don't see many orange orchids - Hugs Nat
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely amazing orchid. Haven't ever sen an orange one. I was given an orchid last year as a gift. It bloomed to the very last little bud on the stalk, and then promptly died. Have no idea what went wrong. I don't have any problem growing other things. Oh well, will have to try again. Love the baby quilt.
ReplyDeleteWhat an explosion of color on this post, Mary! Love the quilt and and adorable frog! You should re-name the orchid after your grandson with red hair ;>) I havn't had problems with email, but have totally given up on Bloglovin! I had to log back in after doing a computer cleanup and it won't take my password or send me a link for a new one. Darned computers!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Gosh, those orchids are stunning! And I love plumeria--you obviously have a green thumb (I have a "dumb thumb").
ReplyDeleteI love the progress on your quilt, and esp. love the colors (I'm really fond of blues) and I smiled at your cute lilly pad with the frog on top. Really fun!
Elizabeth
I can't wait to see that NY Beauty finished! I've been doing a lot of gardening right now too--just wish I had that California sun to help my tomatoes grow:)
