A Little Altitude

The past week was spent in areas where the air is a little thin.  The tasks I take so easily left me huffing and puffing, but the views were spectacular.

Nothing like a pole in the water as you take in this view.

We started the week off in Colorado Springs at the gorgeous Broadmoor Hotel.  One of us had business, but I was along for the fun.  I had the great opportunity to meet up with a dear friend and spend some time catching up and laughing.

We flew home on Wednesday night and left again before dawn on Thursday to head up to the Sierras for our family fishing trip.  Fishing was not that great, but the company and memories were terrific.

Sunrise each day.

Fish???  Really????

Give us a baseball diamond and we'll bring our own team.

A birthday celebration too.

Sunday came all too quickly and it was time to return home with lots of laundry, unpacking and cleaning to do.  Hopefully, I will get a chance for some sewing this week.

  1. We visited Colorado Springs last year and thought it was gorgeous there. It helped that we were running away from the Texas heat in Aug and it was quite nice there temperature-wise :)

  2. Sounds like an awfully nice getaway. Hope you get in some sewing now that you're back home ... are you suffering from withdrawal? ;-)

  11. What a great looking family you have!! The views you've been looking at are spectacular! My brother lived in Colorado Springs in the early 1990's and I was fortunate enough to visit a couple times with my parents. I was a runner at the time, and tried to run while I was there. You aren't kidding about it being harder to breath up there!! It truly is a beautiful place.

  17. Having lived in Colorado for a time in my 20's I thought going back as a "woman of a certain age" would be no sweat - wrong! You're so right about the altitude, Mary! But you can't ignore the gorgeous scenery! Who needs fish when you have all your family together in such a wonderful place like the Sierras!
    Cheers!

  20. Looks like lots of good times, lots of love. The Rocky Mountains region is rejuvenating, isn't it? Despite altitude challenges (and they can affect anyone, regardless of age!) the call to outdoors is refreshing!

  23. I don't know how you get so much done! You amaze me--from Colorado, to a family reunion. Such great memories and such a beautiful family.

I loved the photo of the teenage girls, as well as the mom holding her newborn. Brought a smile to my face to see it all.

    :) Lovely!
