Little Stitching

The week has been busy as we have been saying farewell to the college bound grandchildren with what has been endless parties as well as celebrating family birthdays.  I had to chuckle at my friend, Elizabeth, who was making meal plans for the week.  That would not be something that I would need to worry about.  We ate dinner at home just two nights this past week.  lol

The weekend allowed for a wee bit of sewing.  I decided to join Melissa in her Seeing Stars QAL.  The first block pattern was published this week so there is still plenty of time to join in if you are interested.  I love the Star in a Star pattern.

I also played a bit with my scrappy hearts that my Gridster Bee mates made for me.  I still need to add a border on it, but I really love the way this is turning out.  Setting the blocks on point with sashing was stimulating for the brain!!!

Our DIL adopted a pregnant cat and the little thing had three aby kittens this weekend.  She has already found homes for the kittens and will get the mom fixed as soon as possibly.  The little kittens are so cute - all three are different colors.

I have been working on my Minis and More project for this month.  It is a Trip Around the World mini this month - one that I have wanted to make for awhile.  The Parade is at the beginning of the month so I hope to have it finished for the parade at that time.  No preview here yet!!

  1. Your stars are wonderful! I look forward to seeing this QAL come together. I really like your layout for the heart blocks, too. They look great with the gray. I’m glad the kitties have homes picked out already. They are cute.

  4. Your Star in a Star blocks are lovely. I love your fabric choices. Setting your scrappy hearts on point is an inspired idea and how lovely they look with that sashing fabric. The itty bitty kittens are so sweet.

  5. It is wonderful that your grand children live close enough for you to be a part of the activities and birthdays. I miss my little man who lives over one state.

Have fun with your new QAL.

  7. I love the color/fabric choices in your Seeing Stars blocks -- a lot of my favorite colors, in fact! I like the setting of your hearts on point. The border really allows your focus to stay on the hearts -- great plan!! :)

  8. Just about the time I start feeling good about all that I have gotten done I come and read your post and think (again), "How does Mary do all she does?" Ok maybe I could do about half the sewing you do....but then you entertain LARGE groups, take care of your house, go on trips......I'm tired now.....
Love the stars, hearts, and those precious kitties! How does your temperature quilt compare with last years?

  10. I love the star blocks. I noticed them in IG first, the points are perfect. Can't wait to see them in a quilt.

This is the first fall in a while that we haven't had children returning to the classroom. College girl is now working girl in Denver. My how time flies (I think I say that a lot these days).

The heart quilt is magnificent set on point and I love the sashing and setting triangle fabric.

  11. Dinners have been the same way around here too, for different reasons though. LOL! The stars are so pretty, love the fabrics you are using for those, specially the turquoise one. The scrappy hearts quilt looks amazing already. The little red dots in the sashing, look like ruby squares. The photo of the kitty with her kittens are so sweet. It's wonderful that your DIL adopted her. Can't wait to see your new projects :)

  14. Love your star in a star blocks Mary. The hearts quilt is beautiful. I hope all your new students have a great time as they go forward to further education. We only have one dear granddaughter doing this next year, and she is so excited already. There is a year of study ahead of her first. Your quilting and sewing is so inspiring. I don't do nearly as much, but really enjoy all your photos. Thankyou for sharing. xx

  15. The "Seeing Stars QAL" looks like it is going to make a lovely quilt. But I just can't start another project right at the moment. I'll just have to watch yours.

The kittens look very sweet. I'm glad they will have homes to go to.
