Goodbye June

It's hard to believe that the year is now half way gone and summer is in full swing in many places.  Although our foreseeable future is still forecast to remain cool, I hope to see some summer temperatures appearing here in July.  My Temperature Quilt 2018 is looking quite boring!  Every day is the same color.  We had only two days in the entire month that went over 80* - an 84 and 85.  Our January and February both had warmer days, and more of them.

June has been my month for being the Queen Bee in our Gridster Bee.  I had requested Scrappy Heart blocks.  I am loving the secondary effect that the beautiful hearts are creating.   This is where they are right now, but I see on IG that more are arriving shortly.

Now that July is almost upon us, Leisa is our Queen Bee for that month.  Her request is for the Starry Sky Quilt blocks.  I love this pattern and have wanted to make one myself.  I think it will be gorgeous to see all of the stars together.

We've had several birthdays this week in the family.  One of the granddaughters loves to cook so I made her a vintage apron as one of her gifts.

The afternoons have been warm enough to enjoy a little pool time with the grandchildren.

One of the gals in our quilt guild always shares the cutest cartoons.  This one struck my fancy and I am sure many can relate.

  1. Your heart quilt is going to be wonderful! I, too, love the secondary pattern forming. The apron you made is adorable and how nice that your granddaughter loves to cook. I love the sign in the door...too funny! You are right... your temperature quilt is a bit boring. 😊 Hopefully you will have some warmer days soon. The blocks for my temperature quilts are months behind. Hopefully one day.....

  3. Love that vintage apron! I have several vintage patterns and really need to get busy and make DD and DIL's their own aprons. Happy hearts, that will make a sweet quilt! We'll be happy to send you a few extra degrees to warm up your temps. Highs today and the next couple days predicted for high 90s with high humidity.

  4. I really love your temperature quilt. The apron is sweet. Wish I was in the pool. It's 88 and humid here. Hugs

  5. I wish I could send you some heat. We're at 90 today but the humidity is tropical and the weatherman says it feels like 101. The midwest hot days aren't like your west coast hot days.

I have quite a few of the vintage apron patterns but no one that wants an apron.

  6. We've still got the greens and very pale yellows going on here. To walk the dog, I dress like it's winter. I don't actually mind that. Next week is supposed to be hot :-0
I love those gridster bee blocks. The starry sky ones are going to be fun!

  7. The heart blocks look terrific together! And yes...it's been fun to see them on IG in a rush, all of a sudden.

Your temperature quilt is getting bigger. I saw on our weather app that we're supposed to have temps of 110 next week, so you should get some hot weather in your area. As for us, we are happy to have the cooler morning fog, as it keeps our morale up. (We know what's coming and it's scorching.)

I love seeing all your grandchildren come over. I can see I made a tactical error by not buying a house with a pool--all my children have pools at their places--kids are kind of like fish, aren't they? Great post--feel like I've had a visit!

  8. Your place looks like a hive of activity, both quilting wise and with all your grandchildren enjoying themselves in the pool. How fun! Love those hearts and those Starry Sky blocks look fun. I don't think your temperature quilt is boring at all. Cute apron; love the fabrics you used. Hope it warms up there soon.

  11. Your stars are gorgeous! It's interesting to see the temperatures on the quilt. Boring temps that aren't at the boiling hot level isn't too bad. I need some receipts like that! LOL

  17. Your quilt is not boring compared to mine. I have to attach the last row for June and will share...you'll see. We are camping this week so it will be a week into July before I can get a photo and post up.

  23. The heart blocks are so vibrant! Love all the reds in them. The Starry Sky quilt blocks make me think of sparklers, apt for July I think. Happy Birthday to all! The apron you made is amazing, Mary! So pretty! That is a very nice offering from the store, they must make a lot of money that way :) I could use a bit of pool time now. You are probably loving the hot weather and you got your wish for the temperature quilt :)
