Bits and Pieces

Sewing time here has been in bits and pieces as have the results.  We've had so many sick little ones around us with high fevers, strep throats, nasty coughs and all else.  I feel like germs are hiding on everything I touch.  I think my sewing space is the only "germ free" zone around here - only because the little ones seldom venture in there.  lol

Having completed all of the blocks needed for Allietare, I was able to find a space big enough to lay them out.

I always like to photograph them before sewing as the pictures seem to pick up any errors made.  Sure enough, right in the top row I had stitched a little four patch in upside down.  It is now fixed and ready to sew together.

See that little oops???
I must say that I am not really a "blue" type of person.  This month the Block Lotto was Birds in the Air using blues and purples.  I made some to donate, but I have been looking at them on my design wall for the last few weeks, liking the way they looked and decided to make a few more to enter into the draw.

Then.....there were the cute little reindeer in Quilt Doodles BOM for 2016.  I don't think I want to make the whole quilt, but I thought a nice long sofa pillow would be fun with these blocks.

He'll be much cuter with eyes and nose.

Lastly, I managed to get my mini top quilted and bound.  I quilted it with a pantograph in a very pale pink.  This is for our monthly Minis and More projects.

So.....that is what I have been up to this past week.  How about you?

Your Allietarre quilt top is beautiful, as is your mini finish. So sorry to hear the little ones are sick, it's that time of year again and doesn't seem to be anything we can do to escape it. Hope you stay well in the meantime.

I agree with you. It is somehow easier to spot problems in a quilt photo than just looking at it live. All your projects look great!

You've gotten a lot done for someone who hasn't had time to sew, what with sick kids etc. I'm always amazed at all the projects you accomplish.

Your Allietare quilt is going to be stunning once it's finished.

I love the reindeer block. I'm hoping to get one (or more) made sometime this week.

And the mini quilt is simply lovely! I'm so glad you showed the back so we could see the beautiful quilting.

I hope everyone is feeling better real soon.

Really spectacular Allietare quilt. You manage to get much accomplished in spite of your little germ monsters. I'm sure it's nice to have a germ-free zone. LOL Sometimes I think I need to own stock in Lysol.

You've gotten so many beautiful things made, despite all the sick little kiddies. I hope everyone is feeling much better now! Mary, I love the way your Allietare looks and that is a great tip on taking photos to help you find bloopers.

Your bits and pieces sewing is like what I do in a year! Lovely Allietare quilt. I agreed about photographing quilt. I found a few boo boo in my photos. Hope the little ones are getting better soon and you don't come down with it too.

Wow, that is a lot!!! You have been super productive. Your Allietare is amazing. Laying it out like that and taking a photo before finishing the piecing is a great idea, especially with such a large quilt with so many pieces.

Blue is on of my favorite colors so the Birds in the Air project is appealing to me and the reindeer will make a cute holiday pillow.

What size is your mini quilt? It looks like there are tons of pieces in that too. Very pretty.

I hope your sewing area has remained a germ free zone, and also that the germs are going and everyone is becoming helathy again. I love your Allietare... and the other blocks you've been making too. YOur trip in your previous post looks fantastic - what a great getaway, beautiful scenery!

Allietare is lovely. Taking those photos is always a good idea to catch mistakes. My trouble is I don't always refer to them after I take them.

Wowwee... you have been working hard and accomplishing so much!
Great job on the mystery... I always take a photo too because it seems like there is at least one mistake in every quilt.
