Here…There….

The last few weeks have  been crazy here and there.  It is always a busy time of the year so I’ve come to expect it.  Unfortunately, there is not a lot of time left for sewing.

A few days after returning from our trip to the snow we headed off to the Florida Keys.  For my husband it is a business trip, but for me it is a time to meet up with treasured friends and relaxation.   Needless to say, the sewing machine and I were separated so there isn’t much to show from this end.

The last few days I have been playing with elephants.  (For some reason Henry Mancini’s Baby Elephant Walk keeps playing in my mind as I stitch these.)  I love this QAL and could not resist joining in on the fun.  The splash of color really makes a statement and I have always love elephants and frogs.

The influenza has really hit hard in our area this past week and many of the little ones and their parents have been hit with it.  We’ve been helping out as much as possible all the while trying to avoid the germs.  This week is forecast to be warm so I am eager to open the house up and air it all out…..cook all of those bugs.

Since there isn’t a lot of excitement here, I’ll share a picture from FL.  DH and I have always enjoyed the raw oysters that we get there.  We had an unexpected guest in one of the oysters that we ate this year.

I was hoping for a pearl, but a live and wiggly crab is all we got.  Guess they were really fresh.

The elephant blocks are adorable Mary, but I could do without the raw oysters (and the crab)! Glad you enjoyed some time in the Keys.

Those elephants are adorable! You have found some really cute BOMs this year!I'd never eaten oysters before moving to France (they are a fraction of the price here when compared with the UK) and now I love them. I've never had a crab appear in one though - I'll have to complain to my friendly local oyster seller! Lynne.

Ths elephants are cute. If I needed a new project that might be it. You left a comment on my blog the other day that didn't show up in my email to reply to. Someone told me that is happening with yahoo accounts. Didn't know if you knew and wanted to let you know since you are such a good commenter.

I'm so jealous ... I long to return to the Keys. And seeing your oyster shell doesn't help ... I love oysters on the half shell - although I've never encountered a crab (live or otherwise).

Your elephant blocks are spectacular! Love your fabric choices.

Cute elephants! We just returned from the Keys, too, but no raw oysters for me. I'll have mine fried (and I did) thank you very much. Hope everyone gets well soon.

Hee...I'm singing that tune in my head already, Mary! I love your elephants - they have so much personality! What an adorable baby crab! Did you plop him back in the water so he could grow up?
Cheers!
