Weekend Sewing

It appears that everyone was busy enjoying the International Sewing Day.  There was so much going on in blogland, but I found myself enjoying the day with a bit of sewing.

Our daughter and DIL's are in charge of a dinner and auction next weekend and asked if I could make a little something for an auction item.  I searched my stash and came up with an idea of an Easter table runner.  The blocks are scrolled machine embroidery eggs and it includes some of my hand dyed fabric from a class I took several years ago.

It looked so nice on my dining room table that I decided a second one was needed for my table.  I thought it might be a little tacky to bid on my own donation!!!  Sooo...table runner #2 was created.

So....question is...which is your favorite?

In my ongoing pursuit to keep my sewing space a bit neater I made an addition to my sewing table.  After last weeks sewing, my floor was a disaster with all of the thread and fabric bits.  From the floor they get wrapped up in the wheels of my chair and it is a crazy mess.  I think this will help.

Since I am meeting a friend from high school for lunch next week, I made a second one of the Abbey Bag to give to her.

Today I am being featured on Cindy's blog, Live a Colorful Life.  I have followed Cindy for some time and love her work.  She just competed the most amazing quilt that you can see HERE.  She has also done the Farmer's Wife blocks which is a project on my Someday List.

The winner of my Blog Hop giveaway was Tammy (#313).  Congratulations to her.  She has already gotten back to me and I will get her package in the mail this week.

I have to share this cute little mug rug that I received from Rhonda.  This chick has sass to her.  I love the glasses - much like my own!!!  Rhonda does some amazing work and has some wonderful embroidery designs that she shares with her readers.  Thanks, Rhonda.

This week we enjoyed some of the little ones.  The weather was warm and the Slip and Slide was a huge hit.

Did everyone enjoy St. Patrick's Day?  If you didn't get enough corned beef brisket you need not worry.  I ate enough for all of you!!!

Ok so how come I didn't realize that you had a blog before today? My bad. You've been following me for a while so it is only right that I follow you too!

I like both runners but if I have to pick one, I'd choose the 2nd one. The eggs immediately caught my eye. I love, love, love them. I collect eggs and as soon as I finally get them all unpacked, I'll do a post to show you a bunch of them.

The thread catchers/pincushions are really adorable.

You have been busy! AND it's warm enough for the slip and slide? I'm so jealous! They are saying 4-8 inches of snow for us today!

Your table runners are so pretty! And I love the Abbey Bags! I have that pattern but I've never made one. Love the chick too! :0)

Your table runners are so lovely! I'm especially fond of the second one. The Abbey Bags are also great-I need something similar at my end of the couch where my hand project thread snips build up and of course reattach themselves to me and the project and every opportunity. How nice that your weather is warm enough for the little ones to enjoy the slip and slide. We're still waiting for something approaching warm here!

No corned beef and no sewing/quilting this weekend. ;-)

I will now go check out Cindy's blog.

How nice of you to make a runner for the auction! I don't blame you for wanting to make another ;-) I like the second one best, but it's a difficult choice!! They are both so beautiful! I'm going to go right over and check out Cindy's blog :-)

It's still cold here, the slip and slide won't come out til at least June here. Both table runners are beautiful, I would choose the second one to keep.

Oh my goodness.....posting at 3:00 AM??? methinks somebody really did enjoy National Sewing DAy to the fullest! Wonderful! I can't decide which EAster runner I like the best. They are both "the best"! I have been looking at those thread catchers for sometime now and know I need to make a couple for myself. Vacuuming up a royal blue carpet full of thread and fabric scraps is getting old! Those slipping slides are a great invention, aren't they? I had one with my own little ones so many years ago and now my grandsons think their Nana is the best because she turned them onto one too!

Oh, Mary! You are still doing such gorgeous work on your sewing! I have missed getting on the blogs but thanks to the prayers and good thoughts from so many I am doing very good. I hope to get back into blogland now.
Thanks for your sweet messages thru my daughter Valerie. I hope your Easter is as beautiful as those runners you made! I am inspired. (BTW, I liked #2 the most).
Best wishes

Mary,

The reason you haven't heard back from me when you commented on my blog is because Wordpress marked your comments as spam, HOW DARE THEY?!!! I hope I have done what's needed to not have your comments automatically marked as spam...

Hope all is well!
