From the Land of No Sew

Greetings from the Land of No Sew.  Life has been busy in other ways than sewing.  We've been busy celebrating family times with birthdays and Easter while enjoying house guests.  It doesn't get better than that.

Any spare time has been spent in the gardens.  One of the nice signs of spring's arrival is the blooming of the cacti.  I love this very prickly cactus with it's heart shaped paddles and stunning flowers.



This cactus was started two years ago with a single paddle.  It is almost to the roof now.



The flowers on it bloom in yellow.




This pink cactus is one in a pot with giant and showy flowers.






We had several birthdays in April including these three grandchildren.

Easter was celebrated at our son’s home with the extended family – aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.  It was a spectacular day filled with fun and joy.  We took lots of photos, but here is a shot of the grandchildren all together (minus 1).




This is a picture as we were trying to round everyone up for a group shot – not an easy task when there are around 150 people. 




I’ll try to do a better job of showing some sewing projects in my next post - if I remember how to use the sewing machine.  ;-)  

April Goals

What is it they say about a day late and a dollar short????  I am a day late in setting my April goals, but I have had groups of little ones here for the last nine days so I do have a good excuse.  There was little computer time, much less time to think about goals. 

So....my first goal this month will be to work on two blog hop projects that I will be participating in this month.  Then I really want to finish my blocks for my Easy Street quilt.  I would love to say that my goal would be to finish it completely, but I don't think that will happen.  I still have this box of pieces to assemble.

Next,  I have several friends and grandchildren with birthdays this month so I need to come up with some small birthday gifts.  I will be linking up my projects with Pigtales and Quilts To Do List as well as a Lovely Year of Finishes.

I met my goals for both last month with my Easter sewing and my quilt, but I was able to squeeze in a bit more sewing as well.  Here are a few pictures of my finishes with faces attached to the clothing. 

 

 

Our Easter was wonderful in spite of the rains that decided to pour down on us for awhile.  The children never seem to be bothered by it and enjoyed their time together.

 

 

 

One last thing to share is how beautiful the clematis is when it is in bloom.

Easter 2012

The Peeps have departed the shelves in the stores so I guess it is time to move on into thoughts of summer.  It seems odd to imagine it, but we have another winter storm bearing down on us this week with rain and  lower elevations of snow.  What an interesting year it has been for so many of us. 

Saturday evening we watched a couple of the smaller grandchildren while their family attended the Easter Vigil services at church.  We managed to get a bit of egg dying in while they were here. 

Easter was glorious with temperatures in the 80s and plentiful sunshine.  We all celebrated with a wonderful party at our son and DIL's home.  There were about 100 of us there, but you would never guess it with everyone spread throughtout the yard.   There were the Jolly Jumps, volleyball, races and lots of food. 

I believe those suits belong to another game!!!

The dog managed to find a place to escape from the people.

Even the Easter Bunny made an appearance for the egg hunt.  That caused quite the excitment!

Yesterday our #4 son and his wife presented us with our newest granddaughter - the best Easter egg of all!   Lots of fun baby snuggles ahead for all of us.  One can never tire of those.

So....this week will be a quiet one on the computer as we are keeping their other two little ones until Mommy is home from the hospital.  I will check back when time permits.
