There has not been a lot of sewing going on here, but I am managing to stay up to date on my Heart a Day in May and my Temperature quilt.
The temps have been out typical May Gray here for the last few weeks. I am looking forward to some warmer days ahead so I can see more color in the blocks. Those greens need to go and stay gone.
The college grandchildren are all home for the summer so we have been enjoying their company. They have all had the chance to meet their smiling new cousin. He is such a happy baby.
My mom also met her youngest great grandchild last week when we celebrated Mother's Day.
Baseball season is winding down so many hours have been spent at the various fields. Playoffs have begun which is always exciting. Can you believe that these two players are in the same age group???
There is lots to do in the garden at this time of the year too. We had so much freeze damage when we got that 27* night. The peach tree took a hard hit just as it was setting fruit so the early peach gave us a total of six peaches this year. The Plumerias also got a good snap. Looking closely, you can see the new leaves trying to emerge below the frozen section.
In closing, I will share a photo of a little guest who came to visit while I was at my mom's yesterday. He/she was not a bit intimidated. I was standing less than two feet from him and he was perfectly happy to stand at the door as if he was coming to visit.
Life is just too busy to be posting all the time but your posts are so interesting and varied when you do. I always love reading about the things you and your family have been doing. Your new grandson looks adorable and I love the photo of him with your mom. The picture of the cheeky squirrel is great. It looks as if he's waiting for you to invite him in.
ReplyDeletewow i love your hearts they look awesome and how cute is your new grandchild, love the pic of your mum with him.
ReplyDeleteThe pic of the squirrel made me laugh ,we dont get squirrels here in Australia, hope you have a lovely day my friend xx
Love the hearts against the black and white checkerboard....I know what you mean about not blogging......I have gotten so bad that I've lost all but my dearest best followers who for some reason think I must have something interesting to say once in awhile....lol.....Your package went out in the mail this morning!
ReplyDeleteYour new grandson is just adorable. Too precious. The heart a day quilt is wonderful! I just love the hearts on the black and white 4 patches. I continue to be so far behind on my temperature quilt. One day I’ll get caught up. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful hearts and I love that squirrel! He is posing for his photo. You sure do keep busy with so many grands to keep up with. Thanks for playing along.
ReplyDeleteYour heart quilt is beautiful! Good photos of the squirrel. Congrats on the lovely new addition to the family.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you've placed your hearts on those black and white backgrounds. Sweet little baby too! New babies in the family or our larger church families are such blessings.
ReplyDeleteOh I can so relate. Sometimes it is tough to take the time to blog. Wow that little one is so very cute.
ReplyDeleteWith the advent of IG I find that I can keep up with most everyone there. Although, I do love reading your blog as you tend to share more of the family events here. That is a great photo of your Mom holding her new great-grand.
ReplyDeleteYour temperature quilt is very nice with some green in it. Mine is just orange and red. I've even had to re-order some fabric for three of the temperature ranges...what was I thinking?
The heart-a-day quilt is interesting and looks like a lot of fun.
Such a cute visitor :-)
ReplyDeleteYour hearts project is looking good! I'm having trouble sneaking in sewing time here as well. I'm focused this week finishing up a charity quilt though that has a deadline and then I need to sew a sleeve and label on a quilt to hang in our local quilt show. Hope I make it...and get it together to blog about it! I can't seem to blog more than once a month.
It must be so fun to see your grandkids in their ball game together.
Such a sweet baby :) Your projects are looking beautiful and I can relate to the trouble keeping a blog going. We all enjoy hearing from you so much though!
ReplyDeleteMy friends feed the squirrels on their patio so the squirrels come up and practically knock on the French doors to let my friends know they are ready. Your squirrel reminds me so much of a photo my friend sent me.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly how you feel about being a random blogger. The longer I'm a way the harder it gets to write a post. I'm settling for once a month and here it is the end of May and I haven't written yet. I have lots of blog post ideas but just don't make the time to do them. You have plenty of other more important things and people in your life to focus on though. That newest grandchild is so adorable. I'd be rocking him all the time. Enjoy him and the rest of your family and have a relaxing summer.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great visit to Needled Mom's House! I smiled at that cheeky squirrel, that smiling baby, great-grandma holding her newest g-gchild, and the listing of all the quilting projects that flow in and around these family events. I'm so glad you had a delightful Mother's Day.
ReplyDeleteFun heart quilt you are making, and that warm temperature quilt. I think I'd be happier with your sister's colors!
I love your hearts quilt! It is so pretty! Awwww.. what a gorgeous grandson you have, his smile is amazing! Love the squirrel too.. I fell in love with squirrels on my recent trip to the US :) xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet smile!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your hearts quilt! The colors against the black and white background is genius. Such beautiful contrasts. You have a wonderful creative spirit and I am inspired. Thank you! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a precious photo of your mom and her great grandson. Your heart project is so lively and happy and I enjoy watching the temperature quilt grow. My niece is 13 1/2. Her very best friend is probably at least 6" taller than her. Same age.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy reading your blog. Lovely projects and photos, specially the one of your mother holding her great grandchild. The squirrel photo made me laugh, looks like a character from a children's storybook.

ReplyDeleteI have to say I am loving those heart blocks...the contrasts in the fabrics is awesome.
What a precious great grandma and baby!
Hi Mary,
ReplyDeleteOh what a sweet new baby, and such a happy boy!! I would love to just scoop him up. Your heart a day is coming along great - I love the black/white/gray backgrounds you are using. And you temperature quilt has a LOT of the same color! Geez, if I had started this it would be all over the place - I'm in SE Wisconsin. Last weekend we had to turn on the furnace again and this weekend it's in the 90s. Crazy!
Happy Friday! ~smile~ Roseanne
I hear you when it comes to the time passing too quickly. As you can see it's taken days before I read your lovely post.
ReplyDeleteYour Hearts look great on the B/W four patch squares.
The Temperature chart could do with some colour.
Your little Grandson is gorgeous. what a beautiful photo of him with the big smile also nice pic of your Mum and the wee one. What a cheeky squirrel...
Mary are you getting your comments?
