As with all big families, there are celebrations of all sorts. This week was a celebration of a life well lived - my aunt and mother to eleven beautiful adult children. I traveled back to Iowa and to the country roads. It was a heartwarming time to see all of the children, the numerous grandchildren and many great grandchildren all together to honor her and recall their memories of her.
I managed to experience the heat that many of you have been writing of in your blogs. Many of the cornfields are in sorry shape with the heat and lack of rain. The future forecast does not look great either. We will all pay the cost of this with the icrease in the price of foods and meat over the next few years.

ReplyDeleteOh....I love the smell of plumeria...
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a special thing to honor A precious lady.
And yes, the heat the heat! We will surely be paying much higher prices for everything made by corn. We were fortunate enough to get corn and put a few bags in the freezer. I'm so glad we did. It hasn't been nearly as hot here as usual due to the constant rain!
I'm so sorry for your loss but she certainly left a wonderful legacy in those children and grands. You are correct that this drought in the heartland will cost us all in higher food prices...I plan to stock up now on what I can. blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteYour plumeria plants are outstanding. Mine froze this winter.
ReplyDeleteI don't know that I've seen plumeria "in person". It's a beautiful plant, but I'm sure that it's not hardy here.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry for your loss ... but what a wonderful legacy your aunt left behind. Most farmers here are turning under their corn ... you're right, we're all going to pay dearly, I fear, for this drought. :-(
Your plumeria are gorgeous, and they do remind me of my visits to Hawaii. We are back to the hot humid weather after a few days of nice summer weather. We got a weird storm this evening with major thunder and lightning but not a drop of rain came out of the clouds. Enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteYour plumeria are beautiful! I can almost smell them from here! :0)
ReplyDeleteYour plumeria are so beautiful, thank you for sharing them. My favourite pic is the first one. Over here we call them frangipanis. Cheers from Fran.
ReplyDeleteYour aunt has a great legacy in her large family.
ReplyDeleteI love the quilt patterns that emerge from above from the farms and fields of the flat lands of the Midwest. What a beautiful family to remember a special person.
ReplyDeletePlumeria definitely takes me back to Hawaii. Mmmm....your plats are gorgeous.
Your plumeria are beautiful. So nice to have a family reunion.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely road home. I'm thinking of you this week with all your family around most weekend. I have my two grandchildren and their mom staying over and boy I'm tired at the end of the day.... Hugs Nat
ReplyDeleteWow.. Beautiful flower. I bet I can't find one in my Country. Have a pleasant week! :)
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear of your loss.
ReplyDeleteYes the drought and now fires in NE are really taken a toll on lots of things.
We will surely pay for it later.
I loved the flowers as mine were not that pretty or did not make it at all.
hugs
Mary,
