If I didn't already have other plans I might consider a job offer that I just got called about. It was for a sixteen week period of time working as a R.N. in the local NICU. I wonder where they got my name. Hmmm. It might be fun to go back and work with the wee ones again. I wonder how much has changed in the years since I retired.
I took my mom out shopping yesterday and we went to a few interesting little shops. They always have such quirky items and usually only one of a kind, but sometimes you find just the right thing. Since our youngest grandson is two years old today, I found this perfect little box and filled it with a new pair of pajamas that I made for him. I wonder what he will store in his lunchbox after the p.j.s are removed.
The calm after the storm that just passed us always leaves the most breathtaking views. I snapped this as I was driving down the road. I loved how the rays came through the clouds.
We have a very busy week ahead of us so there will not be a lot of sewing going on around here. I hope you all have a great autumn weekend.
working with tiny babies who are struggling must be challenging but rewarding...you should be congratulated for 30 years
ReplyDeleteI think that lunch box will be a collector's item!! What a cool find.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy retirement!!!!

ReplyDeletewere you "photoing" while driving missy? don't make me come out there. love that picture
ReplyDeleteI am with Tonya...keep your eyes on the road!!! If you need to take a picture to show us (since we DO love pictures), you need to pull over first!!! I love the pajamas and how cute to put them in that John Deere lunchbox.

ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I could ever discipline myself to work again.
The rays through the clouds, beautiful!
Love the photo - lunchbox and pj's. Is that an easy pattern? One of my daughters has a 4 yr. old boy and twin 18 mon. olds - I have a beautiful old black w/gold decorations on it Singer portable that goes forwards and backwards just fine - do you think I could make pj's?
ReplyDeleteWow going back at work.

I wonder how things may be changed.

Congratulations to get head hunted for a job! Are you going to take it. I think those little babies need you. I some how think you are too busy to work - Hugs Nat
ReplyDeleteI think you should go back and work for awhile...you would love it...maybe NOT 16 weeks though!! Gotta love John Deere stuff...my husband and I both grew up in Iowa on farms...now in California!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing you must have been. My grandmother was an LVN and she loved nursing.
ReplyDeleteI ADORE those PJ's! How precious! Can't wait to see a pix with grandson in it. :o) What a great idea putting them in a John Deere lunchbox.
I once taught a little eight year old girl how to sew. We started with an apron. Because her daddy loved taking her out on the tractor, she wanted a John Deere apron, but her 2yr. old brother also adored tractors. So I made them matching ones. They were so cute!
Thanks so much for dropping by. :o)

What a perfect birthday gift!
ReplyDeleteAnd I would love to know what's changed since you worked in the NICU, too. I'll bet you were great in that position!
Had a great time with Louise - Part 1 is up, but it'll be another two posts before I get to her house! Such a good trip.
I'm trying to get caught up after two weeks of really being busy, busy, busy! I'll e-mail you later.
ReplyDeleteThose little jammies are so cute! He will look adorable in them. I bet he keeps all kinds of treasures in the lunch box!
Had to catch up on your other post too. You certainly saw a lot of sights in Chicago! Great pictures! I've never been there, well unless you count O'Hare! ha! Not my most favorite airport!!!!
I got a new toy. It is the Go cutting system. I honestly haven't had two minutes to play with it yet but hopefully today! I think it's going to be fun and will cut out all kinds of fun things.
Had such a good time with Dawn. She gave me a big hug from you! Too bad we couldn't meet more of our blogging friends!
We made $40,000 Saturday on Paws On Parade! I'm waiting for J to send me the pictures that he took. My good camera was acting up so I didn't get any. I was too busy anyway directing people to the right registration line and then keeping them out of the street on the walk!!! Some people just stand right in the street!!!!! Last night we had about 30 here for the first hayride. Two more to go. It was fun and the kiddos loved seeing the horses and patting them.
Guess I will go down and read the directions for my Accucut Go thingy. I read about it on one of your bloggers posts. I also entered the contest so I hope I don't win as I already have one! heehee!
Did my 45 minute walk with my sister as she has the day off due to the holiday. We didn't see any deer this time but last night on the hayride they saw all kinds of deer even the albino one!
My sewing room is calling my name! Love to you both!!! xoxoxox
Are you going to take the job???????
I had a great autumn weekend in Iowa and saw a lot of those green John Deere tractors in the fields. Your grandson will just love that lunch box and the pj's. What a cool Grandma you are! Must be your Iowa roots. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe birthday boy must've been so excited with his "farmer" lunch box and jarmies :)
ReplyDeleteWhat an honor to be offered a job, but you are enjoying being a grandmother to all those beautiful grandchildren far too much to be away from home that much, right? Not to mention all the other activities that fill your time!
Seattle, your train trip and Chicago sounded like a wonderful trip. Loved your photos. So many interesting and beautiful sights to see! Loved the butterflies, especially.
As for the pooch Halloween costume...too cute :) I hope your uncle takes a photo of his dachshund modeling it.
I just love the Jonh Deere Lunchbox with the gorgeous JD PJ's.

ReplyDeleteI just love that little lunchbox you found to put the pjs in, so perfect!! Your grandson will love it.
I have no doubt that you were a wonderful caring RN in the INCU for all those years and you must have really gotten a kick out of getting that call! I imagine it would be hard to get out of retirement and get back to working though.
Have a lovely weekend and I hope you've been having the happiest of birthdays:-) xoxo
