Hello again! Wow, has it really been two months since I wrote my last post? I guess it's true what they say about time flying when you are having fun. I just know that it is pretty pathetic when you have to look through your phone photos to see what has happened since the middle of January.
Life has been good as well as busy with plenty of yard work to get ready for the year. Slowly, but surely, little problem pockets are also being sorted out inside. In between all of that, sewing HAS to happen to satisfy my needs.
My scrappy Log Cabin is now all pieced. It has finished up to be a very generous queen sized top.
As well, my leader ender project from last year is also together and in the to-be-quilted pile. I went with a burgundy colored first border and a multi colored dot for the outer border. It has already been claimed by a granddaughter who told me that she has outgrown her baby quilt!
The scrap basket remains full, but not overflowing as badly as it was.
I had some fun playing with a bit of monoprinting, using a lime from the orchard. I used my piece to construct a pouch for a swap partner. The pattern is the Essential Pouch from #sokahandmadepatterns. It went together beautifully.
The monarch butterflies are back and busy laying eggs. This volunteer milkweed plant seems to be their spot of choice. Unfortunately, it is not helping my gorgeous hibiscus look healthy.
I'll try to not wait so long before posting again. I hope everyone enjoys a great St. Patrick's Day.
So good to see you posting again Mary and I am so glad to hear you have been busy and having fun! Your quilts are beautiful and I can see why your granddaughter wants it!
ReplyDeleteWow, two great quilts that look like they were a lot of work. LOVE the colors / fabric in the pouch!
ReplyDeleteIt's always fun to see what you're up to! Those quilts are incredible with all the small pieces. Your granddaughter was a smart one to grab up that beautiful quilt!
ReplyDeleteYes time sure flys these days but it’s good to be keep busy...
ReplyDeleteLove both your scrappy quilts and it’s nice to know one has been claimed by your GD...
How lovely to visit you, Mary. Your Log Cabin is beautiful, as is the quilt your granddaughter has her eyes on. The monoprinted fabric is fabulous. How clever of you to do this with a lime. It looks like a designer print one would find in a shop.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Tons of piecing in both of those beauties!
ReplyDeleteLovely quilts. Isn't it amazing how quickly time seems to fly? Love the pic of the butterflies in the making.
ReplyDeleteThe scrappy log cabin is stunning. I love the burgundy inner border on the 4-patch quilt. Your granddaughter is smart to pick that one.
ReplyDeleteBoth quilts look fantastic! Great jobs!
ReplyDeleteNice finishes. I especially like the leader/ender top. My scraps look a lot like yours. Funny how time flies. I've dropped out of posting on social media with any regularity but am still busy just like you. Some quilting but other things as well. Enjoy your days wherever they take you.
ReplyDeleteLove the monoprinting! Your quilts are beautiful too... scraps seem to multiply when we sleep. ;-)
ReplyDeletemissed you
ReplyDeleteI had to LOL when I read the part about scrolling through your phone to figure out what you did in January! Same!! It was fun seeing your happy post ... your scrappy log cabin is *very* generous in size, the pouch is perfectly darling, and those monarch caterpillars are huge!! Fun stuff, Mary! :)
ReplyDeleteLove your lime print! And the pouch you made with it.
ReplyDeleteSpring is obviously springing in your corner of the world.
I love your quilts. You have a good eye for color, and your scrap basket produces much prettier results than mine!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize you would have Monarch caterpillars so early in the year. We don't see them until at least June and mostly in July-August here in IL.
ReplyDeleteThose quilts are really beautiful! I have starts and stops of progress...it's been a whole year of that. Hopefully that will change soon.
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling. I've had a hard time too getting motivto write but I'm determined to get back into it. The scrap quilts look great.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tops especially the log cabin. You just might have inspired me to get back into that sewing room and DO something.......sigh!!
ReplyDeleteYour now-completed tops are wonderful; I love them both. How big are your 4-patches in that leader-ender? That would be a great project to use up many low volume scraps that I have accumulated. Those Monarchs! What a thrill to observe those. It's good to hear from you.
ReplyDeleteIt is good to visit you again, Mary! Everything looks so lovely. I do love that mono-printed fabric. I should try something like that with the lemons from our garden.

Gorgeous finishes Mary. Both those quilt top finishes are lovely, it’s no wonder that your granddaughter claimed that lower one showed.
ReplyDeleteLove seeing you exploring your creativity with the lime monoprinting, what color ink did you use as your finished bag has a classic appeal. Stay well.
Hello Mary. It was a joy to read your post, and it is so good to see what you have been up to. Your two quilts are so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe bag is so nice. Chrisknits mailed me one that looks very similar, and I use it always.
