Tuesday’s Tidbits
As we enter week #7 of construction around here, I find myself blessed to be able to retire into my own world of sewing. I’ve had several small projects to work on this week – the first being my small quilt project for this month. I think these would make incredible placemats and am considering making them in different colors.
Be sure to tune in at the beginning of the month for the Minis and More parade of small quilts. They can be found at Michele’s and Sherri’s blogs.
As well, I have been doing some pattern testing for Stephanie at Loft Creations. The pattern is called Paper Dolls and you can see hints of it on Stephanie’s IG account @sadunphy. I have been playing paper dolls with scraps and loved the way it turned out. No full pictures yet……
Of course, I had to use up the HSTs so I made a little pillow to go with the doll quilt.
Continuing on the blue/tan idea, I made a scrap quilt top for our quilt guild. Love the soft colors in this one. I may have to do another one for here.
We had a few days away on a business convention in San Diego. Although quite hot and very humid, it was great to get away. We even grabbed an outdoor concert by comedian Brian Reagan – hysterical!!
We have little ones joining us for a few days starting this afternoon so my computer time may be quite limited here. I will be back soon.
Your tulips are lovely and yes they would make great place mats. The paper dolls look like a lot of fun and I love your scrappy quilt.
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with those tulips! Perfect for placemats and table runner. The yellow-black-white combination is so striking. Enjoy your time with your little ones!
ReplyDeleteThe tulips are sweet as are the paper dolls and I love what you did what the hst's . Your tan and blue quilt is gorgeous , I love that colour combination . Enjoy your company .
ReplyDeleteI love it all; but, especially your happy tulips!
ReplyDeleteLovely Tulips and resulting mini quilt. How fun to fabricate paper dolls out of fabrics. Creative Stitching Bliss...
ReplyDeleteAll of your projects look great but I especially love the tulip mini!
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy, Mary! Your little tulip quilt is adorable. It would make great placemats!! I'm glad you have a place to hide in your sewing room. Having construction people in and out all day gets exhausting!!
ReplyDeletelots of work here, Mary. I love the tulips, but I must say...that scrap quilt is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI just love that tulip placemat. I think it'd make a fabulous Christmas gift (and a nice opportunity for me to actually bite the bullet on machine quilting?). Your little paper dolls and matching pillow are so sweet! I have come to love blue and tan ... and love that quilt for your guild.
ReplyDeleteI'm seeing those tulips pop up here and there, and they are so tempting. Love your fabrics! And love the idea of making placemats from them - adorable!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your Tulips, one of my favorite flowers..
ReplyDeleteThe paper dolls look cute as do your other two projects...
Enjoy the little ones.
You have been very productive in the sewing room this week. I love the sneak peak of Stephanie's paper dolls pattern. The pillow you made is just adorable.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the wee ones visit.
Love your fabric choices and colors for the tulips! Well, of course I love your paper dolls and that itty bitty pillow is the CUTEST! You're awesome. Hope the little ones enjoy the little quilt.
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy, busy! I really like the tulips (placemats). Can't wait to see what they look like in assorted colors! :)
ReplyDeleteI am loving those placemats! And those blue/cream HST's are perfect for that pillowcase!
ReplyDeleteHopefully the construction will come to an end soon, but looks like you are using the hideaway time greatly. Love every project on this post, Mary! So beautiful! I think the cute little doll pillow is my favourite though :)

ReplyDeleteA yellow version of Vintage Tulips??? Adorable!! I'm looking forward to seeing what you've done with Stephanie's new pattern :-)
ReplyDeleteThe tulips are very pretty! I agree about the placemats ; )
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful tulip mini Mary! It would be really fun to see them in different colored placemats. I love the tiny HSTs you turned into a little pillow case border - very sweet with the paper dolls. And your guild quilt is pretty too - a lovely combination of fabrics. You sure know how to make the best of hideaway time!
ReplyDeleteMary, I am constantly amazed at all you do! I agree that the tulips are perfect placemats and love love love the little scrap quilt!
ReplyDeleteI love your projects!!!
ReplyDeleteI love tulips and think those would make beautiful placemats...great idea! So many wonderful projects here today that are really inspiring. Enjoy the little ones!
ReplyDeleteIf ever I am in a sewing slump, I just have to visit your blog and am re-energized by all your projects. I love the tulips and the pumpkins (although they can't beat your large pumpkin with the Scrabble tile teeth), and am impressed you get grandchild watching done and your blogging and quilts all at the same time. I think our Santa Anas have arrived this week, and I am so tired of the heat! (I'm delaying putting in the lettuce plants in the garden until next week).
