As slow as the year has been, it seems hard to believe that we are now into autumn. It will be an autumn and winter like no other that we have seen, but how can one not look around and breathe in the luscious colors and scents of autumn? This is "my" season! I don't know if many of you remember having your "colors done". It was a big thing back then, but I turned out to be an autumn. My wardrobe changed and I dove into autumn colors. I still enjoy the rich colors of reds, golds, greens and browns, but do not look forward to the winter months ahead.
Each year Carole, who blogs at From My Carolina Home, has an Autumn Jubilee where she shares many different ideas - quilting, tablescapes and greeting cards, to name a few. I joined in on her QAL this year and have managed to keep up with the schedule. You can find the patterns on her blog. These are our rows so far. I misread the sashing size in that bottom row, but it is fixed and is the same length of the others now.
We managed an escape for a fall road trip. We put 4.600+ miles on the odometer and had an amazing time. This was really a National Parks tour. We visited Zion, Bryce, Capital Reef, Moab, Badlands, Yellowstone and Grand Tetons National Parks on our journey. With our senior pass, they practically paid us to visit them!!! lol We made it as far as Kansas City and took three granddaughters out for dinner and visited their college campus.
While in the Tetons, I managed to grab a photo of my finished Memoirs quilt. This was a kit from Moda by Three Sisters and I loved the colors of it.
There has been LOTS of mask making going on here. I admired Ramona's Snoopy mask and she generously sent me her leftover fabric. I was able to make two masks from it! One was shipped off to my dear friend in England who loves the Peanuts characters. I've had lots of requests for special masks as well.
Has this series been exciting or what???? |

Lisa (no blog) was our queen bee for this month and these were her block requests. I'm looking forward to seeing this Betsy Ross quilt come together.
As a leader ender project, I have been working on some tulips, a Bonnie Hunter design. My bouquet is growing!
Today my challenge is making a saint costume for the Halloween saint program at the grand's school on Friday. Enjoy your fall!
Looks like you had a great trip...4600+ miles is a LOT of miles!
ReplyDeleteWhat pattern are you using for your masks? I think I need to break down and make a few. The few I've been given are looking kinda sad.
All of your quilting projects look fantastic, can't wait to see more.
Wow! You have been super busy in the sewing room, Mary. Your autumn quilt has some pretty colors in it and I love the Memoirs quilt. Your fall trip sounds amazing, what a wonderful getaway.
ReplyDeleteYour road trip revealed some gorgeous scenery; the Tetons have to be my most favorite of all the mountain ranges and your gorgeous quilt photo with that background is absolutely phenomenal! You have been busy what with all the mask making and keeping up with the autumn challenge too-- that is a great row quilt. I am going to go straight to that blog (unfamiliar to me) from here and check it out. Your granddaughters are precious, I just know how much they appreciated your visit and dinner out together.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely trip! It looks like your sewing machine is keeping busy too. Have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pics from your road trip. I have been following Carole's blog for the Autumn Jubilee, but I have not sewn the rows. Very nice! Your masks are quite nice, also. And yes, the World Series is awesome to watch.
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking us on your road trip... it was fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI love the tulip quilt in the making too...xox
Love your pumpkins row quilt. I'm mildly tempted every year to do one of these but always seem to have too many other irons in the fire. Your memoirs quilt looks lovely staged in front of the Tetons. Your trip sounds blissful, especially to escape some of the disjointedness we've all experienced this year.
ReplyDeleteYep, I'm an "autumn" too! Love these colors. Looks like a fun trip!
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed at all the sewing you have done and then put over 4,000 miles on your car! You have a great collection of fun masks! I've already purchased some fabric to make some Christmas masks. Love your photos from your adventure.
ReplyDeleteI love the row quilts but have only done one. I like the pumpkin row the best.
ReplyDeleteYou have really gotten a lot of masks made. I'm just now getting requests for more. I guess they really do wear out too, especially the elastic.
Wow so many wonderful projects. I love your Autumn quilt. I'm an autumn baby. It's my favorite time of year. Hugs
ReplyDeleteOh how I have missed you all in blogland. This inspires me so much. You have motivated me! Loved reading about your trip. I am going to visit that blog you mentioned. Maybe I can get more motivated. Thank you for visiting my blog. When I see you comment, it makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteYour masks look fabulous ... look at you go! And that road trip was a doozy!! We did the Badlands in 2015. What an amazing trip!! I'd like to fill in the gaps of my own travel to some of the places y'all visited. Your Autumn Jubilee SAL finish is darling! I particularly like the row of pumpkins (go figure)!
ReplyDeleteLove your fall quilt - it's perfect for this time. Though I envy your road trip. It's one I'd like to take sometime. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful roadtrip! I think I have my Sis talked into taking one...."who knows when"...I am so jealous seeing the photo of Mt. Rushmore (on my bucket list). Love the tulips! Your last photo looks like you could pick them all up and put them into a vase! I use the mask you sent me all the time!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you were able to get out and see the National Parks, and lovely granddaughters too! Beautiful quilt on the fence, lovely photos, and fun tulip blocks!
ReplyDeleteI like that mask design. Can you tell me where I can get it? I love all the different fabrics that you used. Your flower blocks are so pretty. Som many different colors. Your trip looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, don't know where to start. Love all the quilts, the Fall quilt is just adorable. Enjoyed your pictures, just fabulous.
ReplyDeleteWow! Your trip pictures are all so beautiful! It sounds like such a wonderful time. So neat that you got to spend time with your grand daughters too.
ReplyDeleteThe Autumn row quilt is looking lovely. Such a fun way to enjoy the season :-)
Your fall quilt is looking good! I need to make another mask...I've been wearing the same one since March and I think it's time for a change.
ReplyDeleteYou must have emptied your stash with the mask making. All of your blocks are so pretty and that photo of you quilt at the Tetons is priceless. What a grand road trip it must have been.

Oh, my goodness, Mary! What a busy Fall! Looks like you've been having a ton of fun! First, that row quilt is fabulous. And your road trip must have been amazing! Were the places less or more crowded than you expected? Those are all "my" places. I grew up in Idaho justs over the border from the Tetons, and our family often made the loop through the two parks. Now I live in Utah and all of our parks have a special place in my heart. How fun to hang out with your granddaughters, too! Do you sew on the road? Cause that is an awful lot of masks and tulip blocks! You must be like the Eveready bunny, just going and going! So, "sew" fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous trip you went on and a perfect spot for a photo shoot of the beautiful quilt.... many lovely blocks there ..
ReplyDeleteWhat a pile of fantastic face masks ..
Just look at all those glorious fall colours of the landscapes you visited. It sounds as if you had a fabulous trip. As ever, when one visits your lovely place there is much quilty loveliness to see. Your finished quilt with that lovely scenery in the background is beauty; as is your QAL. So many fun fabrics in all your masks.
ReplyDeleteYou probably drove within 20 miles of my house on your trip! Most of those national parks are in my state!
ReplyDeleteI love your little autumn QAL.
So is it bad form to comment on a post that was written at least 3 weeks prior, but the reader wants to comment? Great pics and looks like an awesome trip. The quilt photo op is amazing, and all of the masks!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like it was a wonderful trip. I love all your sewing projects, too!
