Shadow Block QAL - Reveal Day

Now for the reveal....

I took off in a bit of a different direction with my Shadow Block Mini quilt.  Since it was a small size I thought it would make a perfect doll quilt for the many "babies" that reside at Grandma's house.  It was a HUGE hit!



It was fun digging through the novelty stash and coming up with blocks that I thought the children would enjoy.  Of course who doesn't enjoy Shrek?


Or Sock Monkey that was leftover from a summer nightgown?


Or maybe my favorite would be this happy cow - a leftover from a baby quilt made for a now college aged grandson.


Whatever the reason to like this sweet little quilt, it was fun to make and will be enjoyed.  The backing is a soft flannel to keep all of the babies toasty and comfortable.

    You hit a home run with this theme. I love the idea of cute little pictures in the blocks. I had thought I might want to take this shadow idea and upsize it but quickly realized I didn't have time to plan and execute a bigger quilt. Seeing these cute novelty prints I might start playing with a bigger starting block and see what transpires. First must finish baby quilt for my next grand who should be here by the end of the month. Thanks for some fabulous inspiration!

    that shadow block reminds me a bit of attic windows.......what a great way to use that novelty fabric too! I have some children's fabric I'm wanting to use and that is really a great idea for it!

    I love the idea of a mini shadow quilt--as usual, you are brilliant! Very fun to use novelty fabrics, too, as then it can become sort of an "I Spy" fun quilt. Congrats on a very nice finish.

    Gosh, I would've never thought to do this with fussy-cutting for a baby quilt! It is adorable and so much fun. I've been saving fabrics to make something like this and now I know what pattern to use. Thank you!
