Little Bits

Spring is finally here although I really cannot complain about our mild winters.  It is always nice to see the new life coming to the gardens as well as blooms bursting forth on fabrics.

The Block Lotto blocks for this month called for posies in blues, purples, pinks and reds.  This was a really fun pattern and will make a great quilt.

A walk around the garden awakens the sights and smells at this time of the year.

The kumquats get the canning season off to a productive start.  Yummy marmalade awaits.

I've been sewing as well, but not a lot to show for the time spent.  I've been working on a Round Robin and thoroughly enjoying it.  Since it is a surprise, I cannot show it yet.

March has brought lot of fun blocks to my mailbox from our Spelling Bee.  Can you guess the theme of my requested words?  The used fabrics are just as exciting as the words.....such clever participants!

I am one of those people who have always loved batik fabrics and I was fortunate enough to recently win a giveaway of some of the Island Batiks from Jocelyn's giveaway at Happy Cottage Quilter.  These batiks are so soft and unlike many other batiks.  They will be fun to sew.

Linda is this month's Mid Century Modern Bee queen this month and requested some mini Churn Dash blocks.  I popped mine in the mail and completely forgot to photograph them before I sent them on their way.  This is going to make an amazing finish.  You can check out her blocks HERE on Flickr.

Our youngest son and his family will be home later this week for Easter.  The computer time will be limited while we enjoy their visit so I wish all of you who celebrate a very Happy Easter.

  1. A very happy Easter to you as well. I love those Block lotto violet blocks. I'm planning to teach that block to our new quilt ministry group soon. Your spring is well ahead of ours, but we do have rhubarb up so we know it's coming, however slowly.

  8. Love your posies, they are so pretty! Also love the real things growing in your yard now, I can't wait to see some sprouts peeking out of the ground here but I guess it will be a while with all this snow! :o) The words are so cute, can't wait to see what you do with them. Mom was home today so I haven't had any sewing time yet but will after dinner. We had a good day today. The picture of the kumquats brought back some sweet memories of Bill, he just loved those and ate them like candy when he was in Florida visiting Mom and Dad! They would always bring him home a bag full when they came back to Maine too. :o) xoxo

  17. Happy Easter Blessings Dear. Your blocks and fabric words are wonderful. Spring is looking lovely in your garden. We had kumquat trees when I was growing up and we kids would always eat them and then remember how bitter they are. I bet they Mae wonderful marmalade. Happy Bunny Hopping...

  18. Your fruits(especially the strawberries) look so yummy! Our strawberries were few and far between this year because of weather. (and what there were, were very expensive.)I really miss "spring" flowers, tulips, jonquils, forsythia and the like. If all goes as planned I will be living in Mississippi next spring and I will get to see them again!!

  25. Love those beautiful photos of your garden, and strawberries and the lovely bouquet at the end of the post. I need to get out in the garden, and as always, you inspire me. I do need your recipe for kumquat marmalade--email it to me?--as my trees are also loaded and I always feel bad just slicing them into salads and popping them in my mouth when I pick up the mail. If I had marmalade, it would show for something, right? So glad you like all your word blocks--I do too!
