Fall is definitely here for us with cooler temperatures and changing colors. The fall lighting with the long shadows is always so interesting.
We visited with one of our son's families this weekend and enjoyed seeing the colors of the grape vines along our way.
It was a gorgeous weekend ahead of the storm that moved through on Sunday afternoon.
Yesterday was a blustery day with wind and "sprinkles". It was perfect for a warm fire, comfort food cooking and a little stitching.
I sewed up a few blocks for this month's Block Lotto party. I do love sewing these x&+ blocks.
I got a jump start on this Christmas pattern. I fell in love with the pattern when I saw it at my LQS. I hope to show you more in the next post.
Fall is a great time for cooking. With all of the holiday cooking coming up, the kitchen will soon smell heavenly all of the time. To me there is nothing like the smell of bread baking. It warms my heart as well as the room!!!!
Can you believe that Thanksgiving is next week? That means Christmas is right behind. It will soon be 2016.
I can't wait to see what your Christmas projects turns into! Bread fresh out of the oven is one of my favorite smells ... *any* time of the year!! :)
ReplyDeleteFall is definitely here. It is very blustery here today.
ReplyDeleteWe are suppose to get snow today. It is definitely time for holiday baking and merry gift making.
ReplyDeleteNo leaves left here and we've had snow since early Oct. Love the smell (and taste) of fresh bread!
ReplyDeleteFall is a lovely time of year and your grapevine scene is perfect. Fresh bread out of the oven...YUM!!! Looks like you are very organized and ready for these holidays that come and go all too quickly. We also got some glorious rain here in Nor Cal. Creative Bliss...
ReplyDeleteYour bread looks extremely yummy! And, no, I don't want to think about how close Christmas and the New Year are! You would think once we've retired life would slow down a bit but it just whirls by ever more quickly. I loved seeing the vineyards near our home in Oregon at this time of year. No vineyards near us, too cold I think.
ReplyDeleteNo, I cannot believe that Thanksgiving and then Christmas are upon us. I can smell that yummy bread from here.
ReplyDeleteIt's still lovely here with just some wind blowing the leaves around. The oil man is complaining because no one is buying much oil this year.....yet! Last year on Nov. 1st we had a foot of snow that didn't go away until practically July! ha! Love your projects as always, you continue to inspire me!! The bread looks so good, I am drooling on my keyboard! Is that the egg bread recipe that you sent me? I have made that several times and it is lovely so if this is different I want the recipe please! Did you cook it in your outside oven? Gave DIL the western themed mini Christmas quilt, let her pick which one she wanted and she wants this one for a table topper. Now I want to make myself one. With a mother and a MIL who both quilt she doesn't lack for wall-hangings or quilts so she rotates them! Mom coming home tomorrow, my oldest sister was here this past weekend, great football game on Sunday, Dad's birthday so lots of calls and company so we had a very busy weekend! xoxo
ReplyDeleteMmmmmm can I come and sample that bread? It looks heavenly! Thanks for stopping by over at my place...my reply to your comment got eaten by the internet, I think. :) Take care!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it is almost Thanksgiving and Christmas - I'm not ready!!!!! Um, please pass the bread :)
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy! Hard to believe that we are half way through November. I'm starting to panic a bit about the holidays coming up so quickly!
ReplyDeleteYes, the year is marching along so quickly! But so good to have special family times to look forward to :-) I love fall/autumn too for the colours that happen. Happy preparation for good times ahead!
ReplyDeleteAll looks wonderful at your house! Happy sewing and baking. Sounds like you are enjoying all the best of the autumn season. Have a great Thanksgiving holiday..
ReplyDeletehmm! It's summer marching along here with lots of hot days.. Yes the year has gone by sew quickly , only 37 days till Christmas... Your bread looks delicious...
ReplyDeleteYou're lotto blocks are really cute and colorful.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother used to bake bread when she visited. Her rolls, bread and cinnamon rolls never lasted more than a day - everybody in the whole family loved them. Now I can't eat bread (wheat), I really miss the fresh baked smell.
What yummy looking bread! You just reminded me that Thanksgiving is next week! Already! That means we need to get a-moving to get that turkey purchased! Your Block Lotto blocks look great! And I can't wait to see how that start on the Christmas pattern finishes up.
ReplyDeletePretty pictures from your trip. The vineyards have an interesting color this time of the year.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe how quickly this year has gone. 2016...WOW!
Oh my - there you go inspiring me with more x&+ blocks! I haven't touched mine in ages - I may have to go pull them down and play for a while today :-) I keep telling my husband we need to look into retirement in your part of the woods, but of course we would be too far away from our children/grands. We are planning our trip to NC for Thanksgiving now, and I'm making Christmas stockings for my daughter-in-law, so yeh, I guess the holidays are here and 2016 is right around the corner... yikes!!!!
ReplyDeleteOhhh...that bread, my hubs is on low carb so that is not allowed in our house...it looks so good!!!
ReplyDeleteI like how you are sewing your Block Lotto blocks. They look like a lot of fun to make. I can almost smell that bread! You are making me want to bake a few loaves this week. I love the fresh bread smell. Looks like you had a wonderful trip, beautiful photos.
