We took a break from our lives last week for a few days of RandR. We headed to a place that we consider a little slice of heaven - Hawaii.
Many years ago my DH was a Navy pilot and stationed on the island of Oahu. Naturally, we enjoy returning and seeing the changes made over the years. We love the easy life on the North Shore and like to base ourselves up there.
Everyday we watched beautiful sunrises from our balcony and gorgeous sunsets as we sipped Mai Tais and Blue Hawaiis at the outdoor lounge.
Our homes where we lived have often changed over the years, but it is always nice to revisit them and recall the terrific times we enjoyed.

We loved the week filled with awesome views, warm temperatures, great eats and carefree living.

If we had not had the wonderful recommendations for the shrimp trucks, we would have never stopped. They were fabulous and most generous in their servings.

| There were chickens running loose everywhere. This little one had managed to get on the road and we all stopped while mom carefully got it over to the side. |

How much sewing did I get done???? I picked up my cross stitch project on the flight home. It was a long flight though so I did get a few stitches done.
BTW....I switched back to the old interface on Blogger and managed to access Blogger with no problems. I guess it is the new interface that kept giving me the error message on my desktop. VERY strange. Any one else have that problem?
Oh my, what beautiful pictures! Nothing better, in my book, than a sunrise or sunset at sea. I don't suppose we'll ever get to Hawaii (we hate to fly), so I've especially enjoyed your pictures since that's as close as I'll come to being in Hawaii! ;-)

BTW, I don't like the new Blogger interface either. I don't do well with change. I didn't know we had the option of changing back. I'm going to go look into that.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful place. My BFF Deb is heading back again this year they went 4 yrs ago. Going to a diff island this time. I do not think I will ever get there but do enjoy seeing it through others pics. Glad you had a nice R&R. Hope you work out the bugs on your blog soon.

Lucky you , I did visit there in the 80's for a week and it is incredible , some of these photos look familiar ,I would dearly love to return , a slice of Heaven for sure.

ReplyDeleteWell, Hawaii is now moving way up on the bucket list! Such fabulous photos of fabulous scenery..... and so great to see it as you remember the time you lived there. All those beaches...the blue skies and the blue seas..... oh my word. You do not want to see the grey and wet skies right here at the moment!

I was there once...back in March of 1970....also for R&R....I had never seen an ocean so blue before....nor since....We drove all over the island of Oahu in a little bitty Toyota Corolla and had a blast......thanks for sharing those fantastic photos and also your memories......

ReplyDeleteDid you stay at the Turtle Bay Hilton on the North Shore? My daughter was born at Tripler. We lived in Kaneohe, off base, and I used to stop at Tat's Shave Ice truck. Memories...One of my favorite things to do was snorkel at Hanauma Bay. No place is more laid back than Hawaii.

We've been for our 25th and 35th, and would love to go every year! We love Kona, and want to go to Kauai this time, too. It is truly paradise.

I love the north shore...I have been to Hawaii a lot. It is one of my favorite places...I wish I could retire on the big island. I know people who have. It is peaceful there.
