So Dearly QAL, Part 5

Today is my day to share my Part 5 of the So Dearly QAL.  Each Monday on Gosia's blog, Quilts My Way, we are treated to a different version of the month's part of the QAL.  The patterns for all sections are still available HERE and all of the information can be found HERE.

I love paper piecing, especially for the accuracy I can achieve when using the technique.  After printing out my pieces, I mark the proper fabric placement and start sewing.  Initially, I must say that they don't look like much.



The picture becomes a bit clearer once the pieces are trimmed for sewing together.



The real picture comes once those pieces are all sewn into one unit.



When I place all of my sections together, I am beginning to get an idea of the size and the image that this mystery is going to become.

    It's fun watching this come together as you make each section. Did you have an idea of what you would be making when you picked your fabrics? Your colors are the most realistic for what it looks like it will be. I do like the lime green background on Gosia's blog. :)

    Looks like fun, and though I won't hang my hat on it, it's beginning to resemble Gibbs'favorite outdoor "toy" lol!

    It looks wonderful, Mary! Love that background fabric. I think I am also starting to get an idea of what it will be. I also mark my fabric placements on the paper pieces before I start sewing. I make less mistakes that way.

    I owe you two blog comments: one for this fun So Dearly QAL and another for last post.

    I am enjoying seeing your work come together in this QAL. Your pieces seem to indicate a deer, but it will be interesting to see how all parts work together.

    And last post's star quilts still intrigue me, as well as seeing the Gridsters Bee quilt come together. I'm way behind in my sewing, and hopefully I can get to it soon. Thanks for your bursts of inspiration!
