My computer got sick this week so it has spent the last week in caring hands and has finally been returned. I'm still trying to navigate around all of the new applications since it was all updated.
Meanwhile, I have had a little more time to spend in my sewing space which was great. I managed to get my Round Robin quilt finished.
The signature blocks were used on the back.
When our British friends were here in the spring we made her beautiful zig zag quilt. There were a lot of leftover bits that were cut off the edges. I squared those up and made usable blocks with them for a donation baby quilt.
Then I backed it with the sweetest plush fabric. It is so soft and cuddly.
I also finished my bee blocks for the MCM bee that I participate in each month. These blocks were such fun to make and I think it will make a spectacular finish.
We are forecast for a heat wave this weekend. I am looking forward to it as it has been such a cool summer for us so far. We were at my nephew's wedding last Saturday evening and people were wearing their ski parkas or were wrapped in blankets to keep warm. It was crazy.
Lovely quilts and blocks. That donation baby quilt is precious. We are having cool days and nights here. There is a Delta breeze/wind and it is quite chilly. Now we may get some rain mid-week and we can certainly use it since El Niño hasn't lived up to its hype.
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely quilts and blocks.....well done!

Lots of great blocks.
ReplyDeleteNice to have your Round Robin finished...
A lovely Baby Quilt made out of left over bits of blocks.. It will be loved by someone....
It is finally Winter here. Have had lovely sunny warm days ( I have been loving them) unusual for mid June....
Some wonderful finishes, and a lot of scraps were used up in the process, always a big plus. It has been unseasonably cool and very windy here for a week, hopefully it will warm up soon.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous work there, Mary..I love the signature blocks on your quilt...looks great! Send a little heat our way...will you???
ReplyDeleteFabulous quilts! Love that leftovers were utilized to make a lovely quilt. We had a cool spring and are now having hot (as in flirting with 100 degrees). I can take a little of that super hot weather, but I'm ready for it to cool off - just a little, like just 15 degrees.
ReplyDeleteMother Nature is fickle or is it global warming? Such a cozy baby quilt. Love those blue/white Xs. You are quite accomplished and got lots done while your computer was sick. I don't like updates but thankfully I have kids with computer skills who can help.
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are great! I love your idea of using signature blocks as a label for your Round Robin. The fabric on the back of your baby quilt is adorable. You've been busy!
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy as usual. I love your Round Robin and all you quilts. I'm going to be on the Central Coast this weekend. I was hoping to miss the weekend warm up. Maybe not.
ReplyDeleteYou have been very productive lately. Your Round Robin quilt is so beautiful, congratulations on that lovely finish.
ReplyDeleteGreat way to use up those leftovers from the zig zag quilt, too.
Haha! Your post title made me laugh! Great blocks. The Round Robin quilt looks amazing, Mary! A perfect log cabin cosy quilt. The baby quilt is lovely and backing is really very adorable. We were out last night, and I wish I had a light jacket on me.

love your finish and we are getting 95's
ReplyDeleteYou accomplished so much! I am planning to do the Elm Street QAL but have not had the chance to get to it. Maybe this weekend I can get started. It looks like fun.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary, That plush fabric you used on the back of your baby quilt is so cute! Is it by any chance Magic Moon? And if it isn't, what is it? And where did you find it?
ReplyDeleteI love seeing what you are working on, and love the medallion quilt! Really beautiful. I went to the grocery store yesterday and told my husband that I'm preparing for the heat wave (predicted high of 111 in Riverside) like I'm preparing for a blizzard or something--I don't plan on leaving the house at all! I'm not looking forward to it at all, so I'm glad someone is! It will be good for your garden, for sure. I'll run my garden irrigation an extra turn those couple of days to make sure the plants survive. But I can stay in and quilt, right?

We had a little heat, but only for a day, we are cooler and have storms lined up to come in all day. Cute blocks, I am binge reading blogs. Great finish for your cross stitch, and love your grand Cockatiel.
ReplyDeleteI do love those eee's :-) Sounds like you have been having crazy weather!! Wow!
ReplyDeleteThe "e's" are very cute, but that Round Robin has totally got me oooing and aaaing...love it! It's hot here (no ski parkas for sure) but even hotter where the Monkey Boys live and where we're headed for a few days. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteThat's a very sweet donation quilt! I like your blocks also. The weather keeps flip flopping here also. But now it's going up in temp!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite letters. Cute baby quilt!
ReplyDeleteSome really lovely things to read about here. I'm not looking forward to the heat at all! I much prefer the cool and breezy weather we have been having. But looks like it ends today.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun blocks and your quilt is beautiful!! If you don't get warm enough weather......I'll send you some of our Iowa heat!
ReplyDeleteSki parkas in June in California? That is crazy.
ReplyDeleteYou accomplished so many wonderful things while your computer was sick. Mary, each project looks great! I love the way you have signature blocks on the back of your Round Robin quilt!
Your "e"s reminded me of Scrabble blocks. :)
Hi - you left a lovely comment on my New Quilt Bloggers Blog Hop post but for some reason it didn't turn up in my notifications .... I replied on the post to you but couldn't get the email function on your profile to work ..... so I thought I would reply here too (so you know I'm polite!!!)
ReplyDeleteThank you!! I too love revisiting quilts ..... it's funny because it already seems like a while ago since I finished my last batch of quilts but it's only been a month! I too read a lot of history books - I get very caught up in the learning we are doing for Home Ed and gets bags of books from the library! This has also led to an interested in historical fiction. I have never read or seen Gone with the Wind so will make a note of it! x
I too like the signatures especially. Great finishes. The Elm Street QAL looks fun! Can't wait to see your finish!
ReplyDeleteMary - your projects looks SOOOO very fun!!!
