WOW!!!! What a wonderful weekend we had here. Unfortunately, I do not have photos to share with you yet, but I will do so as soon as possible.
Our children threw an incredible party to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. It was beyond all expectations and it was just fabulous. They had asked if they could plan and throw a party for us at our home for some friends and family. We were whisked away early Saturday morning and the house was completely transformed when we returned. I do not know how they managed to keep everything so secret. I never expected that they would go to all the work that they did.
The place was beautifully decorated with flowers everywhere. The tables were set with champagne colored linens and beautiful handmade napkin rings. The children and grandchildren put together a video that is priceless. Our SIL, who has worked in the music industry did an amazing job on it. Add to that they had borrowed a HUGE inflatable screen for the back yard to show the video on during the party. I have never seen anything like it before in my life.
They catered the event and the food was delicious. It was so nice to attend a party at my house where I did not have to do a thing. The caterers left the kitchen immaculate and the kids cleaned up the yard, returned all the tables and chairs and had the place back together for Father's Day celebrating.
They even had our eldest grandson there to take all the pictures so I will post some once he gets the disk to me. It was just awesome and I cannot thank the "gang" enough for all that they did.
I must admit that I do not know where the last forty years have gone. I don't feel any older -- well, maybe a little!!!! Our lives have been blessed many times over.
Sunday was a grand day as well celebrating all of the fabulous fathers in our family. Each and every one is loved and appreciated by his family and it was nice to take the special day to acknowledge the fact.
In other news..... my mother continues to improve daily. She is currently up in her wheelchair for about six hours a day and flat the rest of it. Her discharge date and her release to normal activity is June 30th and she is more than eager to return home. It has been such a loooong haul for her and she has been an inspiration for all of us. I will never complain about aches and pains again. She was saddened to not be able to attend the party but I was able to take the video to the hospital and show it to her. We will celbrate with her once she is released.
Our momma tortoise buried five more eggs yesterday. This is quite unusual as she has never dropped eggs twice in one year. It will be interesting to see if they are fertile and will hatch so late.
I will update once I receive the photos. Meanwhile, we are enjoying some wonderful summer weather, finally. I guess that we just needed for it to actually BE summer.
Congratulations on your 40th anniversary. I understand your words...where did 40 years go?!
ReplyDeleteYour family was terrific to throw you such a wonderful party. Our children threw a surprise party for us on our 25th anniversary and it was beautiful.

Hugs
Sounds like an absolutely wonderful celebration - what a great family. Time has flown for us as well!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see pictures.
We're having hot weather finally. I would love it if it stayed between 75 and 80 all summer.
Fun was had by all!! That is wonderful...Happy anniversary!! Ours is going on 46 now!! i cannot understand HOW that happened? Hm!! Sandy

We will celebrate 45 in Aug.
That was so fantastic what the kids did for you.

Happy 40th Anniversary! That wonderful party and all the details of it are a testament to what a wonderful Mom and Dad you are. Glad you had such an amazing day.
ReplyDeleteGreat news about your Mom, I hope she continues to heal quickly.
Congratulations! I can't imagine anything more wonderful than your children honoring you so much! I know the video will be a treasure!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad your mother is better!
Sounds divine and will look forward to the pics.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is arranging a Golden Wedding celebration for us in December. All we have to do is be there but I suspect I may be looking after the grands!
Your drive was wonderful and I certainly did experience such different and changing weather but that all added to the interest. Thanks for posting.
I cannot imagine just how you manage to do such beautiful quilting while on the move. I guess your long, flat and straight roads help. Would not like to do it here with so many narrow and twisty roads.
Grow bags are heavy duty plastic bags full of compost. Used here a lot for growing tomatoes in gardens but Ihad never come across them before in such commercial quantity for growing strawberries. Makes a lot of sense.
You are truly blessed with family to gather for celebrations and such wonderful surprises to celebrate your 40th! You are indeed a very busy lady. :o)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great 40th celebration you had! I'm so happy that everything went well and that you got it on tape to share with your mom. You'll enjoy viewing that tape in the future too. Your family must love you a good deal.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by today!! i just cannot get over the things that people throw away...when so many people are in need right now. I just hope these things will help my young mom friend..

It's cooled off here now after two weeks of very hot temps so it feels so good to not have the air conditioner running, only the windows and doors open:-) xoxo
Wow, what a party! I know you loved every minute!
