Marching into March

Another month down in 2017 and now we march into March.  Spring is definitely in the air.  Although I have not spotted one yet, I have heard the orioles in the yard.  I love it when they return.  Their sunny yellow color brings back the memories of long summer days.  As well, the clock turns back next weekend....my favorite time of the year.

Blogger has been frustrating me lately by not allowing me to access my reading list.  If I have not been visiting, please understand the reason.  I have been using Bloglovin, but my reading list is not complete and it will occasionally not allow me to comment.  Blogging is a love/hate relationship for me.

.....BUT......I've had such fun stitching lately.  Several years ago I started making the NY Beauty blocks for the QAL.  Instead of doing one of each, I decided to do four of each!  I believe there were a total of twelve different patterns.  I just finished my 9th block of four.  Three more to go.

My bee blocks this month for our fabulous Gridster Bee were cute little piglets.  Elizabeth shared a fun pattern with us and I LOVED these little guys.  I really need to do some for myself.  Hmmmm.....I have wanted to make a quilt from each block I have made so far.  Do you think I might have a problem?????

The background for this little piggy is medical supplies chosen because Elizabeth is recovering from shoulder surgery.

My Temperature Quilt is growing too.  February saw some really warm as well as some quite chilly temperatures.  I am still hoping to have more oranges soon.  I am doing this quilt along with my little sister (IG alaskanquilter) who lives in Alaska.  Needless to say, her temperatures and colors are quite different from mine.

Is it possible to do some Christmas stitching in February?  Absolutely!!!  The kindergarten class was in need of a stitcher for their blocks they created.  This will be auctioned off at their annual school fundraiser on March 18th.  The little ones did such a good job on their Christmas trees.  I hope it brings in a lot of money for the school.  I'll update you later.

My youngest sister ( the quilter) is coming into town this week.  We both enter a new decade this year and she has been celebrating hers in Hawaii this week.  I am looking forward to some fabulous days of stitching together while she is here.  Life is good!!!!

I enjoyed reading all about the various projects you have been doing from temperature blocks to New York Beauties finishing up a cute Christmas tree quilt for a kindergarten. Yes, spring is in the air over here too: we expect to be above 80 all this week, but I her been happy to have rain this year.

Sorry about the blogger problems. I feel the same about Bloglovin'– I still miss Google reader.

I hope you and your sister have a grand time celebrating her birthday and your anticipated birthday!

Your little piglets are adorable! I can understand why you want some of those for yourself. Love the Hand to Hand quilt, too. Such a nice auction item. Making a NY Beauty quilt is on my bucket list. I have never sewn curves and plan on doing that this year. Love your blocks.

Cute piglets!! I LOVE your temperature quilt; I knitted a scarf that used sky colors --1 row/day in blues, grays and white and creams--that was a fun and easy one. And so, I love how your fabric temp piece is coming out...hugs, Julierose

I love your piggies. Oh, I remember the NYB QAL - think I passed my blocks on. Love the hand prints and what a cool school project for a good cause.

Wow , you have been busy , lots of great projects happening. A friend of mine did a knitted scarf using the temperatures to decide the next colour , it was really quite interesting .

Love the Xmas quilt. Those kids must have had great fun painting their hands for the trees. I've never seen that before.

Those piggies are ADORABLE and your New York Beauties are beautiful (love the block but I will never make it - I'll enjoy yours extra (hehe)).

Have fun sewing with your sister!

Your piggies are just too cute! And those New York Beauty blocks are simply fabulous. Seems like a lot of us have been having internet/blogging issues lately. Hopefully short-lived.

I've been watching your New York Beauties as you present them to us....how big is that block of four? And that looks like the same piggy pattern I used to make Irene's "Hog Wild" mini wall hanging! I love the kids quilt and Yes! I am ready for Spring too :)

I love NY Beauty block and those are some real beauties!!! Very talented kindergarten quilters. Love the quilting design. Darling piggies. The temperature is very confusing; snow hail yesterday followed by afternoon sunshine. Thank goodness for quilts to keep us warm. :o) Have fun celebrating birthdays and quilting with your sister.

The NY Beauty blocks are amazing, way above my skill set!

Cute little piggies, of course you NEED some for yourself.

The kindergarten quilt is just too adorable. I predict some parent is going to bid quite high for it.

Enjoy your sister's visit.
