Minding My Ps and Qs

This week we started on the consonants in our Repeat QAL - Ps and Qs.  I can actually start spelling words now.

It has been a busy week with birthdays here friends and family.  Last evening we celebrated three birthdays and will celebrate another two this evening.  Although as friends we don't really exchange gifts, I made a few small gifts - a mug rug and a needle case.

I watched some of the little ones last Friday and one of the grandsons came prepared to bake cupcakes.  He had even written the recipe down to bring along.

As we were getting the cupcakes in the oven, I found these two making use of the empty bowl.

One of the granddaughters had a cross country horse event near Solvang over the weekend so we went up to watch her perform.  She and London were flawless in their jumps.

I was very lucky and won this beautiful stack of RJR solids from Cindy's blog - Live a Colorful Life.  They look so pretty all neat and tidy, but I can't wait to untie the ribbon and start sewing with them.

The baby cockatiel is finally getting his face and neck feathers.  I love the ones that will eventually stick up on top of his head.  He is also getting very demanding when it comes to feeding.  The poor dad can't seem to get a break.  Guess it is just like all babies.

In closing....this is what happens when you leave your phone alone and the grandchildren are around.

Cute mug rug and needle case. Now I know what I am doing wrong I am using flour and sugar in my cupcakes. :D Cute pics of the kiddos, and my brother nabs my mom's phone and changes his name to "Mom's Favorite".

Such a cute mug rug and needle case. What a sweet gift! The bird is looking so much better and not quite like a vulture. Great family photos!

Cute little gifts to give. Love the recipe - he was quite serious about those cupcakes. Who doesn't love to lick the bowl? Yes, vulture baby is starting to get just a little charming.

Love your mug rug and needle book. And your granddaughter riding cross country brings back so many memories of my equestrian days. Thank you for bringing back fond memories of my parents and me....and my horses from years gone by.

Fun times, and fun little gift projects. Baby bird is really cute in his innocence, just like all those little grands helping you bake and clean up afterward!

I would frame the cupcake recipe and use it as art on my kitchen wall. I love things like that. Never a dull moment with the grandkids, big and small. Birdie is looking more attractive. What a beautiful stack of solids. A necessity for every stash. Happy Spelling!

Lovely postings as usual. I love that your grandson wants to cook with you. I have one that also wants to cook with me. Last time we made a leg of lamb together. <3

Yes, this is ANOTHER project you have, um, let's just say, coerced me into joining my friend LOL!!! I picked out the colors today and hope to start making letter tomorrow - what fun!!! Love the pics of your grandchildren, especially the selfie taken while your back was turned :*) My grands all loved horses too, and Emma even competed for a while before she moved.

Most young people don't make biscuits! They do very little cooking so handmade biscuits some day will be a thing of the past

I love that all the photos of your grandkids: licking the bowl, the horse competition, and the funny photo at the end. I can imagine you with them, and it makes me smile! I can see that your summer is keeping your busy, not only with your grandchildren, but also with sewing and those fabulous letters. You must be a pro at these, since you are doing two different groups--the Repeat QAL and Spelling Bee. Very fun to see all your activities!

As busy as ever and enjoying life I see. Our favourite thing when children(and have to admit to still indulging occasionally scraping the cake bowl).

The cupcake recipe, the little girls, and older grandkids made me smile, so sweet!! London and your granddaughter look great. I love horses. Wow! The cockatiel is growing fast, no wonder it's hungry all the time! What a good dad to take care of the baby so well! Such a happy post :)

The only letter you are missing is an L..so you can spell applique...lol. That would definitely have to be on my quilt were I making a word quilt. I could probably applique it faster than all that piecing! Good luck with it Mary.

Lots of great things happening with you. I love how your letters are progressing. Can't wait to see it all together. Wish I would have had time to work along too. Thanks for the lovely comment on my blog a few days ago. For some crazy reason, when you comment on my posts now, it doesnt come thru my email anymore. Hope I haven't missed replying. Not sure why but I will try and figure it out.
