It's Getting Closer

As with everyone around this time of the year, we have been busy with Christmas approaching.  With three big dinners behind me, most of the shopping finished, Christmas projects completed and most gifts wrapped up, I feel as though I can breathe a bit easier now.  Christmas cards will be the task this week.

It has been awhile since I last blogged - or even followed blogs.  The stomach bug hit many of the little ones this past week, but it is nice to have that finished before Christmas.  I always feel so sorry for sick little ones on such a special day.

I finished the Christmas stocking for the newest grandbaby.

I'm sure she will appreciate it more as she gets older.  Right now the tree is more interesting.

There have been some wonderful bag tutorials being shown over at Elm Street Quilts the last few weeks.  I have always wanted to do one of the box bags.  I just love how this turned out and it was remarkably easy to do......all scraps from the bin.

We were lucky enough to have everyone home and healthy for our Thanksgiving celebration this year.

I'm sure that many of you are sewing along with Bonnie Hunter in her Allietare mystery.  Although I have not had much of a chance to keep up - yet, I have completed my 4-patch blocks for this week.  I will get the last two weeks done soon, I hope.

My lovely postcard from our Christmas Postcard Swap arrived from Fiona in Australia.  I always love seeing little pieces of art arrive from across the miles.  Fiona did such a beautiful job and I have added it to my small postcard display.

I hope to be around a bit more now that things are settled down a bit here.

Linking up with Sue and Bonnie.

Welcome back and good news on the health front. Lucy and her stocking are adorable. You really put a lot of love and labor into making it. Love the red and black scraps pouch. Your fabric postcards are beautiful. Thanksgiving with family all together is priceless. Merry Merry Christmas Dear...

Love your family photo at Thanksgiving. Heartwarming. Stocking for your new gbaby is gorgeous, as are all your other project. Great zipper box bag too! I've made those years ago, but not as nice as yours. Had wanted to stitch them out for the Bag It! event, but haven't yet had time. I was thinking that would be a great design to use up practice FMQ sandwiches, but I also love your collage of beautiful fabrics. Total #CreativeGoodness

I haven't been around to visit blogs much either but hope to have more time closer to Christmas to catch up with everyone.

Very cute stocking - she will grow into it. Illness at holidays are not fun, so hopefully all will be well on the big day.

Stomach bugs are the worst...poor babies! I hope it is all gone before Christmas. Your stocking turned out so cute and has such incredible details on it. Great job and sweet baby next to it! I've never made a box bag. May have to try that!

Stomach bugs are terrible for the little ones, all of us for that matter. How wonderful to have your entire family with you for Thanksgiving! We will be getting together with various groups of family over Christmas week, but long ago gave up on having everyone in the same room together unless there's a wedding, lol! That is a seriously sweet stocking for your youngest grandbaby. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

The stomach bug--the WORST!! I love your Christmas stocking. I made a felt stocking for our newest but it is not nearly as detailed as yours. Also, those big eyes--what a cute picture! Aren't fabric postcards fun??

So wonderfully coordinated. I have no words for the Christmas stocking! It looks incredible!! What a lucky baby to have such a loving grandmother!

However did you manage so much?!! You are amazing, Mary :)

Greeting from hot Australia. Can't think of Christmas in 102'F, but that how it is in this part of the world. I'm home now Mary, came back just in time to put Christmas decorations up, but we will be at our son and daughter-in-law this year so no cooking! Thanks for all your comments on my posts from the trip. I read each and everyone of them, sorry I didn't get a chance to get back to you. Mary, have a lovely family Christmas and best wishes for the New Year. Love Nat

I think with the holidays. . . and the illnesses that go around. . . we are all in the same boat. I finally sewed something last night for the first time in six weeks. But it is that season, right? I love seeing that baby with her stocking--what a lovely photo to keep inspiring you to completion. Hope you are all healthy and looking forward to regaining the routine after the fun holiday season.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
