Fall

The weeks just keep ticking away here with the holidays quickly creeping up on us.  It's hard to imagine.  There is still so much to do.  When that overwhelming feeling takes over I like to head off to my secret corner of the house and sew.  It doesn't get the preparations done, but it makes me more relaxed!

This week I managed to get the Mini Stems quilt top pieced.  I love how this turned out and it is the perfect size for a nice wallhanging.

I needed a border fabric and was close to a great quilt shop in Carpenteria, CA - Roxannes.  It was highlighted in the Quilt Sampler spring/summer issue.  It's a fabulous shop and has a lot more than quilting.  One thing they carry are Featherweight machines in GREAT colors.  Hmmm....what color would you choose?  They even have gorgeous hand painted ones...stunning!

I know that winter has hit early in so many places, but we are enjoying some fall colors in our area.  We don't have a lot of changing colors here so we really enjoy the trees and vines that do put on a display for us.  This is our neighbor's tree that we look out on.

Doesn't it look pretty nestled in with all the greens?  This is our typical fall weather....

I played around with some charm squares and a Moda Bakeshop Chevron pattern.  It worked up quickly and ended up a good size - about 80" square.  The colors are citron and gray with a white background, but the sun was setting when I took this picture.

Onwards with the week.  Enjoy it.

What a fun shop! Cute mini. Some need to take time to smell the roses...quilters need to take time to play with their fabric. :O)

Great quilt top, I am quilting us one 97 by 105 working on free motion and learning different designs since it will stay with us. It will be a mess with lots of different things, flowers, leaves, random

Your little vine quilt is darling. My mom has a feather weight that is a beautiful red. I think aqua would be pretty.

Cute quilts! Your "fall" colors make me laugh - that poor tree looks so lonely.

Hi there, I just came by to visit from Kathy's(Empty Nest) and love your blog. I am a nana as well, but only to 11 grands; I also am a quilter and I love your quilts. I lived most of my life in northern Ca. until we moved to Colorado 7 yrs ago. I'm going to follow you; don't get down to soCa. much but love that store and the featherweights.

Like the chevrons Mary, and the wall quilt. Both look so fresh. I wish we had paddling in the sea weather in Fall/Autumn. Its usually a bit nippy for that. We have had a lot of rain this week, but it dried up today.

Isn't it nice to hide in the secret corner and not think about the growing list of things to do for a while. The Mini Stems quilt looks beautiful, so colourful! The citron and grey are my most favourite combination, so you know I would like it. The fall tree looks fabulous. What a view :)

Love the sewing machines, I think if I would chose green. Love your chevron quilt. The weather here is so cold, it feels like January. Somebody just flipped a switch from warm to extremely cold and forgot to let us get adjusted first.
