Pin It Blog Hop

Gosh.....it's no fun being at the end of a fabulous blog hop.  I have seen so many amazing creations and I must say that this is definitely one of the best hops Madam Samm has come up with to date.  Thanks so much to her and to Kristen - our resident cheerleader for the hop - for all the inspiration and fun.

I have always loved my pin cushions.  Can a person ever have too many?  I have added a few to my very large collection with this hop.

Some sweets with no calories for sewing.  No fun, I know!!

Then of course I had to add a turtle since they are our resident pets here.

With autumn quickly approaching, I thought that the little acorn pincushion that was in the fall edition of Quilts and More would be a perfect addition to the hop.

Many of my pincushions have been given to me over the years from friends and family.  These are some of my "use all the time" favorites.

Then there is this one that my grandchildren made for me one year with their little thumb prints.  On the bottom is a picture of an ultrasound of their then newest little one.  Too cute!

Lastly, this is my original pincushion from when I started to sew.  Can you tell it has quite a few years of use?

There is lots more fun to be had today and tomorrow so be sure to check out the other bloggers and see their great creations.

  57. Congrats on a top 2 finish today - very well deserved. I read your "about me" - oh my - 27 grandchildren. I don't know how you do it, and you do with what you are blessed. I have a friend who has 3 adult children and 2 of them are identical twins who are six weeks younger than my daughter. At 34, they still give her heck. My friend was a L&D nurse for years and years and then an attorney. Her son and DIL are having their first child due around Oct 1. Then not to be outdone (one of the twins is very, very jealous of either sib) she gets pregnant. Now she is having a high risk pregnancy and GM is having to hold it together because she knows the bad things that can happen. They thought the baby's organs were on the outside. It's the small intestine. The daughter was going to abort and the father of the baby didn't want to do that - they have a 7 year old. She was going to tell him there were genetic defects when the prelim results show none. She got on the phone and told her twin there were none. She wanted to keep it a secret from her husband. Oh, what drama. My daughter just went through an unsustainable pregnancy this summer (I guess a blighted ovum) which consumed her whole summer off from teaching. So, you know all about this things. Her two sons each spent lots of time in the NICU. So, every now and then I still knit preemie hats for the NICU and our guild makes the blankets with the dark backs for the incubators for our local hospital. My daughter lives in another state.

Now back to the matter at hand. Your pin cushions are amazing. I think many of us have a tomato pin cushion that we have had for a long, long time. My great aunt gave me a sewing basket with one when I was about 11. I love all the pin cushion and the turtle is special to me and my son loves turtles and just adopted one into an aquarium in his home at 36. I guess some little boys stay little at heart. Your top 2 finish is well deserved.

Thank you for sharing all your lovelies. You are very, very creative and a great source of inspiration on many levels. Thanks for sharing all the eye candy. I hope to see you in more hops very, very soon.

  71. What a wonderful collection of pincushions; the turtle is adorable. Your old tomatoe looks a bit like my first one though I think mine might be a little more red. I ended up buying a couple of more tomatoe cushions but the first one is definitely the best and that's because it is really easy to stick the pins into.
