A Few Stitches

I keep wanting to believe that today is Monday after enjoying a three day weekend.  The week will be short and over with before we realize.

We helped out with little ones over the weekend as the flu season has hit with force in our area, but I did manage to get a little sewing done.

I am really enjoying the challenge of the It Takes 2 QAL with all of the different techniques being used.  It is certainly not a project for a beginner.  It is giving me some good experience for when I attempt a Dear Jane quilt. ;-)

I also finished my March mug rug and it is packed and ready to mail off to my March partner.

A squishy package arrived from Samantha loaded with wonderful fat quarters and other great goodies.   I especially enjoyed the darling bracelet that her daughter made and added to the package.  Thanks so much, Samantha.

Today is Fat Tuesday.  I've always wondered what it would be like to be in New Orleans or Rio for the celebrations.  Have any of you ever been there for the parties?  Just curious!!  I'm not sure I could handle the crowds myself.

  1. I've never been, but my sister lived in Mobile for a few years and I think they partied it up there....:) I just found out you are supposed to have red beans and rice!

  10. I've never been to New Orleans or Rio but I celebrate being fat on Tuesdays, does that count?! HA!

Those quilt blocks look quite complicated! Yikes! Yes, I have been working on my quilt for Christmas. I have the final border ready to sew on this afternoon and it will be all done. Very easy pattern, I pretty much did it in a weekend except sewing on the final borders. Now to go pick out the backing and off to the quilters. I will do that next time someone is here to keep an eye on things. :o)

Flu is going around here too and I am desperately trying to keep it from getting in here! Can't have Dad getting that!!! I didn't get my flu shot until two weeks ago but they tell me it will help.

Keeping E in my prayers. Love and hugs!!!! xoxoxoxox

  11. I'm still giggling at Midlife Mom's "I celebrate being fat on Tuesdays, does that count" comment! LOL I've never been to New Orleans but oh what fun it would be to attend Mardi Gras. My mom has been to New Orleans on a bus tour they had taken from Florida and were brought on Bourbon Street but it was a couple of weeks before the Mardi Gras parade was going to take place so there wasn't much to see.

Leave it to you to be able to make those complicated quilt blocks! lol The mug rug is lovely as well.

Flu and cold season is here also and while in the waiting room with mom at the clinic this morning, I had so many people around me coughing...just hope I haven't caught anything!!! I've been lucky to not have had a cold or the flu so far this winter.

Hope your week is going well my friend. xoxox

  14. Hi Mary.....everytime I see your JustTakes2 blocks I get a serge of guilt because I am WAY behind! I think I convinced myself that I don't like one of my fabrics so that is keeping me from continuing.....But yours are just beautiful! I saw your March MugRug on the Flickr website....very nice! The gray goes good with the green. Ida x-o

  15. I have never had any desire to visit New Orleans, and most especially at this time of year!

Your quilt pieces always amaze me.

The flu got Kristen really badly, then she added bronchitis on top of it. The girls, 3 of them, got colds. Then Dwight got this terrible sickness. Now Hayley has a cold, as does my SIL who is taking care of Dwight. I've been lucky so far! I can't get sick. Just can't.

I am so far behind again in reading, but finally got a new post done tonight.

  16. Well I wasn't in New Orleans but here in small town south Louisiana it was a sight to see - the parades are prolific and the glitz is amazing. A bit too much alcohol consumption at and by parade participants for my liking but they do party hard. blessings, marlene

  20. Sorry if the little ones have been unwell. Is it really flu - my daughter says that the flu virus has not shown itself this year so she has had nothing to work on in that arena. Don't know if that applies to the States as well.
Been lots of other stuff going on here though in the way of viruses and infections.
