A Pause

There is a wonderful 11-11-11 Linky party for mini quilts going on today.   I have always enjoyed doing mini quilts because they offer you a chance to work on a technique that you might not want to attempt in a full sized quilt.  In my dreams I have always thought about doing a red and green Pineapple quilt to display at Christmas.  Years ago I did this little mini (14") and stopped with the top.  This week I did the quilting on it and put the binding on.  It will have to do until I get that big one done.

I had great hopes of a nice post today with lots of fun stuff, but it isn't going to happen because I am celebrating autumn with the fun color of orange...as in a cast.  Boo hoo!

That's what happens when one steps off a curb and catches their foot between the curb and a rubber tire all the while trying not to fall and seriously break something!!!!  Do you think I will tire of orange in six weeks?  Maybe I should have gotten red for Christmas.  I apologise in advance that I will not be able to comment as I can only chicken pick at the keys.  Know, however, that I will be reading your blogs.  I must focus on what I am able to do and not what I cannot as we enter the busy season of Thanksgiving and Chritmas.

A million thanks goes out to all of our wonderful veterans today as we celebrate Veteran's Day.  They all do an amazing job of keeping us safe and free.  THANK YOU!!!!

ARRRGH!! Oh no! Not a clever thing to do at all, but I have to say that I like the orange. You can get the grands to change orange to red on the 1st December. Supply them with felt tip pens and they can get going.

Seriously, though, I am really sorry to see you wounded. Not good. Six weeks. Hmmm. Maybe you will not be cooking for Christmas?

The mini quilt it beautiful. I have never attempted a pineapple, and seeing this reminds me just why I have yet to gather the courage to try. So lovely - especially in your Christmas colours.

I would be round to "help" if I didn't live half a world away. Look after yourself!

It sounds like you will be a pampered guest at Thanksgiving instead of preparing the meal. I've never broken a bone so I can't imagine what this must feel like. I think the kids and felt tip pens sounds like a good idea to decorate the orange!

Oh, Mary...I'm sorry this happened. While there is never a good time to do something like this, I think this time of year is extra hard to be "incapacitated". I hope you're not in pain with it. On a happier note, your little pineapple mini is very nice!

Thanks for sharing your mini green and red pineapple quilt, very lovely indeed.

I'm so sorry to hear that you broke your arm in such a bizarre accident and will be out of commission for 6 weeks. Once you get the cast off make sure you get yourself into a physiotherapy program to build back up the strength and mobility that will be missing.

I will be sending you positive thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery and may your family take really good care of you and cook up an amazing Thanksgiving feast on your behalf. All the best.

Oh poor you. I hope you get well soon. At least you have a good reason for sitting and letting everyone else run around doing shopping/cooking/etc.

Oh No Mary. I am so sorry to see that orange cast on your arm. I just can't imagine how awful it is to have it on as I have not broken anything so far.

Oh nooooo, what did you go and do to yourself?!!! I'm so sorry to hear about your accident, I do hope you're not in too much pain and that you heal quickly. Doesn't it just figure this would happen when we're entering the busy time of year:-( Just take good care of yourself and let your arm heal properly. Don't you worry about trying to blog or comment!!

Love your pineapple mini quilt, it's gorgeous! xoxo

Oh, my goodness, Mary!! That sounds like something I'd do! So sorry, and hope the pain part is gone, at least.

I am sitting on the couch in Maine while K&A watch a football game. I'm trying to get my brain in gear so I can write a post - it's been two weeks, which is a record for me over this 5 years plus.

OMG!! What timing of it all!! Is this your way of getting out of cooking that turkey dinner?!!! LOL I don't know that I would go to those extremes! LOL (I do hope your chuckling with me!!)
Sit back enjoy and be pampered!!!

Just one little misstep and you have 6 weeks worth of healing. I know it will be extra hard for you because you're always doing something creative!

Have a speedy recovery! My brother fell backwards off a ladder last Sunday and spent 4 days in ICU. Lost 3 pints of blood and has a bruise on his brain. It was the first time I've come so near to losing a sibling and it gave all of us a real scare! Just one brief moment can change everything!

Poor you. What a terrible thing to happen. Take care of that arm. It is needed if you are going to do some more lovely quilting. Blessings, Barbara.

Ouch! I hope you feel better fast. Rest and take it easy........I know, easier said than done! I like your philosophy that you need to focus on what you can get done, not what you can't. I'm going to try to keep your words in mind this week.

WOW...this is terrible!!! I certainly hate this for you...especially going into the holiday season....hey, maybe this is the one time you can have others do for you....do you think???

Here's hoping you have a quick recovery and it doesn't bother you too much!!!

Oh no. Which bone is broken? I spent some time with a broken leg and I KNOW that it is no fun. Your mini quilt is so pretty. I am in the process of making a mini Thanksgiving quilt. Be safe.

Oh no! That's awful. When I first saw your pic, I thought it was one of your grandkids...not realizing it was you until I read the post. I guess it's time for you to relax a bit.

I love your mini quilt, the pineapple log cabin block is my favorite block. Your quilt is just amazing. I cannot believe how time the strips are.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Poor you! What an inopportune time to have an accident like this. Well..I'm impressed that you leave as many comments as you do..considering the chicken pecking.

What a gorgeous min-quilt! I'm drooling!!

Thanks for the sweet visit. BTW, I posted my chicken quilt. You may actually remember it. Of course, you probably won't considering how many friends we all have. :o)

Still, I think you will like it. It's been a long time since I posted a quilt of mine.

BTW, I've always loved pineapple quilts too. They are stunning!

Oh! Mary I am so, so sorry. No quilting either! My prayers go out to you for a full and speedy recovery.

What a boring way to do it too, not like another friend of mine this week who fell of his Sedgeway.

Like the mini quilt.

So sorry you hurt your arm, what a hassle! Hope it heals quickly so to not interfere too much with your holiday plans. I see hubby took care of Thanksgiving, what a trooper!

I absolutely adore your Christmas pineapple mini. Such nice detail! I'm about to make my first pineapple block next weekend at our holiday party for my local sewing "club" (not officially a guild).

I'm also so glad to read you liked my Huckleberry Swirl quilt so much. In honor of the quilt, I think I'll make wild huckleberry pancakes for lunch, LOL!
