Thank You

I want to thank everyone for all the fabulous help that has been given to me as I try to figure out the photo problems that I have been experiencing. I read and re-read each comment and e-mail and I will be attempting other means of uploading my photos. It is amazing how many different ways people can upload photos. I am impressed with all of you. So....thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!

So....instead of playing with the computer I have been working in my sewing room on things that I know I can do. One great thing about blogging is that there are so many wonderful avenues to explore. There are swaps, benefits and all else. I have enjoyed participating in several different ones and will continue to do so.

This week I have been working on a couple of fun projects. One is for Amanda Jean who was requesting 12" blocks for quilts to be made for the Quilts of Valor program. The Wonky Stars are done in red, white and blue. If you check out her blog you will be amazed at the number of people who volunteered to make a single block when she was asking for help. Mine is finished and ready to be shipped off. Thanks Amanda Jean for such a great project.

Another swap out there is from Jane's blog. It is the Disappearing Nine Patch done in red and aqua fabrics. Each person makes twenty five blocks which are then cut into four pieces. Those 100 blocks will be sent to Jane and distributed to all the participants. I have loved doing both the Wonky Stars and the D9P in the past and both of these were fun to do again.

As well, I have been doing some embroidery work for our son's restaurants. I do their embroidery for their caps and work shirts. All are done and ready to be picked up. Guess I could have ironed one of the shirts before photographing it, but you get the picture. They are polo knit shirts so the wrinkles are only temporary.

This is my next project. My DIL found this child's rocker and asked me if I could make a new seat for it so she can fix it all up. It should be a fun project as well. There are so many fun things that could be done with this little chair.

I am surprised that my Plumerias are doing so well with the cool summer that we have had this year. These at one time belonged to my dad who started them from small cuttings. I wish that I knew the names of them, but I don't. They are the flowers with which the Hawaiians make their leis so you can imagine how wonderful the patio smells when they are in bloom. I love this red one.

This is the actual tree with the flowers on it. Isn't it lovely?

This is another one in yellow.

It seems hard to imagine that the first day of autumn is just a week away. Although the temperatures are telling us that is so, it is still hard to believe. Enjoy the last week of summer.

  1. It is most certainly autumnal here! It is cold enough to contemplate the heating, let me tell you. Too early!
That little rocker will be such a fun project for you! And the patches are great too. It feels right to be making things when the weather gets cooler, doesn't it - I am loving having the time to sit under the big quilt and hand quilt it in the evenings. It keeps me warm too!

  3. It is sure looking like autumn here also. The temps are cool and the leaves are falling from the trees.
I can not wait to see what you do with that little rocker.
    Your photos are just beautiful.
That was funny about the tree with two kinds of needles.
    God Bless

  5. Oh, your flowers are beautiful...and a fragrance too!!

It is just beginning to seem like fall here. Well, in the morning it feels like fall with 50 degree temps. but the afternoon is still definately summer in the 80's.

It will be fun to see what you do with the rocker seat and what your DIL does with the painting. Show her the photo of the rocker in our church nursery.

Love that Wonky Star block too. I've never made any of them but they look so much fun to make.

  8. I've said it before and I'll say it again - you are so incredibly talented!

Ah, plumeria - take me away! When we're on the Big Island, we drive up into the hills and find these little houses tucked back in the trees - there are leis hanging out in front that you can take and leave the $4 or $5 on your honor, then enjoy the heavenly scent for the rest of the day. I want to go back!!

  9. Oh I love plumerias too! How lucky that you can grow them. The little chair is so cute! And I loved your 12 Days of Christmas in the previous post~ were they hand embroidered? I have a weakness for red/white quilts. :-) Have a happy day!

  10. Well, you're up and rolling now! Your pictures are all in place; good for you. I'm glad you stuck it out.

That tree is the kind I like best: small and flowery.

I love all of your needlework; you're so precise.

Can't wait to see that finished rocker.

  11. We were having very summery weather over here the last couple of weeks but now it's turned quite cool and yesterday we had to pick all the tomatoes off the vines, otherwise we would have found them frozen this morning! At least it's sunny so I really don't mind the cooler temps, especially with my "power surges"! lol

I'm always so in awe with your quilting and sewing projects! Blogging certainly does bring a lot of extra fun to it with the swaps, giveaways, ideas, etc., glad you're able to participate in some of them:-) You must show us a picture of that sweet little rocker once you're done making a seat for it and your daughter has renovated it!!

I'd never seen or heard of a Plumaria...how beautiful the flowers are!! It truly is a wonder how some of these plants survive such dismal and cold weather...and yet keep giving us such pleasure with their beauty.

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement and your prayers regarding the situation with my DIL, you are such a special friend and I love you to bits:-) xoxo

  12. Okay, PLEASE tell me how you are loading your pictures now!!! As you saw in my last post they were all over the place with writing going vertical instead of horizontal in some places! Waaaaaaaaa! E-mail me when you get a chance!!

Miss T is here with me this weekend as R and Son are off playing with the Patriots. They will meet them in Foxboro and then go by bus with them to NY for a dinner thing and then the game tomorrow.

Your flowers are spectacular! I can just imagine how good they smell!

Your quilting is so nice, I'm jealous! :o)

Take care dear friend! Love to you and E! xoxoxox

  14. Hello!! I bet those flowers are something else. I love flowers anyway..my love comes from so many ladies in my family tree that loved them also and passed that love onto me.
I am doing better after my fall. Really I was very fortunate that i did not break anything..

  16. Me again. No I haven't figured out the picture problem yet. I just downloaded a bunch of pictures onto my post and then put the words in after. It lacks the creativity of being able to place things as you want them, some things are out of order etc but it's the best I can do for now. It's funny because usually when Blogger has a brain cramp it gets over it in a few days or even a few weeks but this has been going on for----EVER it seems. Oh well, I will plod along with it and hope for the best in the future. :o)
