Sew Busy

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!!!!!!!

Since I haven't received the photos from our anniversary party yet, I cannot share them. I am sure they will be coming soon. Maybe the party was only in my dreams?!?!? I am told they are coming so I will post some once I receive them.

Meanwhile, I have been very busy having some fun. Things have settled down with my mom and I have made a promise to myself that I will manage to find at least 15 minutes a day in my sewing studio. Even if I just sit there and get inspiration from looking at fabrics and threads, I feel a lot better.

Well.......my fifteen often minutes turns into much longer periods and the housecleaning has gone with the birds. Hmm. Is there a fine point where the line is drawn?

Then again, look what I have managed to accomplish.

1.) A small red, white and blue quilt to hang on the door for the July 4th celebration.

2.) Several outfits for one of my granddaughter's eighth birthday this past week. Happy birthday, Ms. B.

3.) Finished all 70 nine patch scrap blocks for the summer sew along. This was a great way to use up a few of my scraps.

4.) Finished the top to the Panda quilt along with AJ Quilts. Again....more scraps.

5.) Completed two tooth fairy pillows for some special little girls.

So, I ask you, does it really matter that the house is not spotless? I have been having sew much fun.

The grandchildren completed their enclosure for their tortoise and have settled her into her new digs. She is loving all the attention (and food) that she is getting.

My mother was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday and is now home. She still has a lot of ground to make up after being in bed for two months, but she is such a trooper. She currently has a gal who is staying with her during the day until she is a little more steady with her transfers, but she is excited about being home. One can only imagine how good it must feel. The best part, I am certain, was to finally get a real shower after so many bed baths.
For all of you who love kitties, there is a blog giveaway for some cute kitty fabrics. You can see it at http://sewfunquilts-sewmeow.blogspot.com/ .

This week has been spent shopping and preparing for our annual July 4th party. Although it is only immediate family, there will be close to ninety people here. It is always great fun with games, conversations and food. How much better does it get? For those in the USA I wish you a wonderful day of celebrating the Independence of our country. Please remember to fly your flags.

  1. You have been a busy sewing bee! You are so incredibly talented. I was hoping you'd post the tooth fairy pillows - they are absolutely adorable! I'm sending you a picture - and something will be in your mailbox soon.

Thank you so much! They were thrilled. They came the day she lost her tooth, but I hadn't checked the mail that day. I was sad about that. But there are lots more to be lost!

  2. You are so creative. I love to sew also. Haven't worked on "my unfinished projects" for a while now. Anxious to get them done. Everyday there seems to be something to change my direction for that day. Maybe tomorrow.

We have been gone and I am just now catching up on comments, reading and then emails. Have a great Fourth of July!!!

  14. You have accomplished so much. All of it wonderful. No worries if the house work doesn't get all the way done. No one really notices but you. Besides creative clutter is better than tidy idlesness.

  15. Wow! You have been just sewing up a storm! LOVE the outfits you made for your granddaughter!!! She will certainly be thrilled with them! I am so sad to say that I have not made anything all summer. With the horses home and all I just don't seem to get to it. I have some projects lined up for the fall and some UFO's to finish. The little tooth fairy holders are darling! Did you put the design on with your embroidery machine?

So glad your Mom is home and doing so well. She must be thrilled to be in her own home and bed. Wonderful that you have someone staying with her too, must make you feel good knowing she's not alone right now.

Hey, housework can wait! Believe me I know!!!!

    Adorable wallhanging and panda.

So the grands have their own tortoise now, they will have fun watching her grow. Do tortoises have personalities like dogs and cats?

It is still raining here. I feel so bad for people that had their vacations this month. Also the tourists that are here visiting. We have had rain for over a month with just a few days of sun. I have a friend here from Florida and she is complaining big time!

You were the only one that answered my Pay It Forward. It's just so quiet in Bloggsville right now I guess people don't want to participate so don't bother if you don't want to. I haven't been as faithfull to blogging either so I certainly understand. :o)

I bet you had a blast on the
4th! Wow! 90 people!!! What fun! It was so cold and rainy here we just took a ride to the coast for seafood and that was nice. I didn't care about going to the lake in the rain!

Well Miss T and Cousin K are still asleep upstairs. They spent the night last night and didn't settle down till almost 10. I bet they will sleep for several more hours!

Guess I should work on a post but there hasn't been that much going on to write about!!!!! Take care my dear friend!! xoxoxo
